😮 ❤️ The evolution of GE transmission is exciting but from a reliability perspective it has me slightly on edge (i.e potentially very large traffic shifts as very large links fail)...... 😅 I do accept that's where the particularly fun part of networking engineering has always been.... engineering for throughput, availability/reliability all within the boundaries of an agreed upon error budget/failure tolerance. 800GE IP routing also covered here by Nokia: https://lnkd.in/gv7s3Ex6 #800GE #networkengineering
Nokia and SURF proudly announce their trial success in achieving 800Gb/s optical transmission over SURF’s network. The transmission, based on Nokia’s photonic service engine technology, will help accelerate the massive data exchange between the CERN particle accelerator and NL Tier-1 research IT facilities at SURF and Nikhef. 🌍We create an #ECOSYSTEM with 14 partners to thrive in the ECOSYSTEM project! Łukasiewicz - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics is participating in the prestigious European project: European Common Supply Chain for Infrared Modules (ECOSYSTEM) funded by European Defence Fund (EDF). Together, we will create an independent European supply chain for advanced #infrared detector technologies T2SL (Type II Superlattice). 🔍 T2SL infrared detectors (Type II Superlattice, a second-type semiconductor superlattice technology) are an advanced type of infrared light detectors used in thermal imaging systems - thermal cameras, in medicine for imaging, such as body heat, and also in military and space applications for monitoring and recognition. 👨🔬 Thanks to the involvement of the Infrared Photonics Research Group led by Kamil Pierściński,Łukasiewicz - IMiF gains access to leading experts in the field of detector design and manufacturing and can become a part of IR components’ delivery chain in Europe. 🎯 The aim of the collaboration is not only innovation and technological development, but also to strengthen Europe's technological sovereignty and independence from non-EU suppliers. That’s why as many as 14 consortium members across Europe will be developing solutions to achieve higher performance and autonomy of defense systems utilizing infrared. The project is led by Safran Electronics & Defence from France. 🤝 We are proud to be part of such a great consortium: 1. SAFRAN ELECTRONICS & DEFENSE (Coordinator) 2. AIM Infrarot-Module GmbH 3. Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives 4. Comptek Solutions 5. ENSEMBLE3 sp. z o. o. 6. FRAUNHOFER GESELLSCHAFT ZUR FORDERUNG DER ANGEWANDTEN FORSCHUNG EV 7. Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. 8. III-V Lab 9. LYNRED 10. Politecnico di Torino 11. SCHWAR JORG 12. SIEC BADAWCZA LUKASIEWICZ - INSTYTUT MIKROELEKTRONIKI I FOTONIKI 13. Thales 14. THALES LAS FRANCE SAS 15. Xenics 🌟 In summary, the ECOSYSTEM project focuses on the development of modern infrared detectors used in #defense, by supporting innovation, securing European supply sources, and maintaining Europe's technological competitiveness. The project will last for 3 years. More information coming soon. Stay tuned! #photonics #innovations

The XI International Symposium "Ultrafast Dynamics and Ultrafast Bandgap Photonics" is being held this week in the beautiful island of Crete, for the third year in a row, https://lnkd.in/eSrSfeKS I had the honor to start the conference with a plenary talk on how two-dimensional coherent nonlinear spectroscopy of superconductors allows for quantum tomography of light-controlled non-equilibrium states, with new breakthrough results, obtained in collaboration with Jigang Wang's experimental group at Ames Lab, on how a pulse-pair of intense Terahertz laser fields with controllable relative phase can image and induce light-controlled superconductivity. Having observed and controlled with a pulse-pair interference of different superconductor excitations, is room temperature light-induced superconductivity next?

MICAS PhD graduates 2023, part 9: Carl D'heer. During his stay at MICAS (KU Leuven), Carl worked on sub-THz and #THz fully #CMOS integrated circuits for high-speed communication. A 28Gbps 390GHz BPOOK transmitter and a 32Gbps 135GHz direct-digital 16-QAM link were his main achievements. But his presentation for his PhD defense was also quite some performance, explaining bottom-up, from #transistor to #chip, over #modulation techniques and electromagnetic waves, how his chips do what he wants them to do. Congrats, Carl! PhD supervisor: Patrick Reynaert. More information about our research on RF, mm-wave and THz circuits can be found on our website: https://lnkd.in/gHuiruG9
