I enjoyed our conversation about the coding preventive medicine services and annual wellness visits and wanted to express my gratitude for your insights 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 📖 This meeting provides basic information on coding and billing for preventive medicine services and annual wellness visits. It explains the definition of preventive medicine, the advantages of preventive care, and the difference between preventive and diagnostic care. It also discusses the various types of preventive medicine services and provides coding guidelines for avoiding denials. The meeting includes examples, case studies, and tables to illustrate the concepts and guidelines. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 📌 • Preventive medicine aims to eliminate or prevent disease and improve patient well-being. • Preventive care offers advantages such as longer lifespan, decreased cost of disease management, and better quality of life. • Preventive tests are performed before symptoms develop, while diagnostic tests are used to learn more about a condition after symptoms are present. • Preventive medicine services are categorized based on whether the patient is new or established, and the patient’s age. • The appropriate office or outpatient service code should be reported in addition to the preventive medicine service code. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞? 📝 Preventive care refers to screenings and tests performed before symptoms develop to detect diseases, while diagnostic care is used to learn more about a condition once symptoms are present.
