Love this quote. As for school context, Occupational Therapist add skills to the students. It is interesting to see how a student can ‘walk’ far in their school with specific skils that he/she gains from occupational therapy sessions. #occupationaltherapist #schoolbasedOT

While doctors focus on diagnosing and treating medical conditions to extend life, Occupational Therapists work alongside them to ensure those added years are lived to the fullest. This quote isn’t about placing one profession above the other but rather showing how both contribute to a patient’s overall well-being. Doctors often stabilize health, but OTs take it further by helping individuals regain their independence, re-engage in meaningful activities, and adapt to new challenges. Together, doctors and OTs form a powerful team. Doctors provide the medical care that extends a person’s life, while OTs focus on quality—helping patients find joy, purpose, and function in their daily lives. From learning to walk again after surgery to relearning daily tasks after a stroke, OTs step in to bridge the gap between surviving and truly living. Both professions are essential in creating a full, fulfilling life for patients, and their collaboration ensures that patients not only live longer but also thrive in the years that follow. #OccupationalTherapy #OccupationalTherapist #WhyOT #OTMatters #OT #OTR #OTD #UnitedStatesOT

Rehabilitation hospitals : are essential because they provide specialized care for individuals recovering from serious injuries, surgeries, or illnesses. These facilities offer tailored programs focusing on physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other treatments aimed at restoring function, independence, and quality of life. They create an environment conducive to recovery, helping patients regain strength, mobility, and skills for daily living. *Rehabilitation typically involves several stages*: Pre-Rehabilitation Assessment: Initial evaluation to understand the individual's condition, set goals, and plan the rehabilitation process. Restoration Phase: Focused on reducing pain, inflammation, and restoring range of motion through physical therapy, medication, and other interventions. Reconditioning Stage: Building strength, endurance, and functional abilities through exercises, occupational therapy, and specialized techniques. Functional Training: Specific training to improve skills necessary for daily activities and tasks, aiming for independence. Community Reintegration: Assisting individuals to transition back to their communities, offering support for social, vocational, and psychological adjustments. Long-Term Maintenance: Providing strategies and exercises for ongoing care, ensuring continued progress and preventing relapse or new injuries. #Rehabilitation #hospitals #healthcare #LTC

This month, we celebrate tradespeople and acknowledge the physical strain they endure on their shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands. As leading hand therapists, we believe it is our responsibility to educate the public about the common conditions that impact a tradies greatest tool, their hands and upper limbs and what we can do to help. Our goal is to ensure that tradespeople are informed about these conditions for a healthier and more fulfilling work life. Here’s how we can make a difference: 1. Prevent injuries: Our team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists can teach techniques to work safely and avoid common injuries. 2. Early intervention: Prompt and accurate diagnosis is key to preventing chronic issues and long-term complications 3. Enhanced quality of life: By managing pain effectively, hand and upper limb therapy enables tradies to maintain their productivity and enjoy their daily activities 4. Adapt with age: Our therapists will help tradies adjust their work habits as their bodies age, reducing the risk of injury and prolonging their careers. A special mention to the Australian Physiotherapy Association for their outstanding efforts in advocating for the health and well-being of our tradespeople. #TradiesNationalHealthMonth #TheHandsPhysio #Action Rehab #AustralianPhysiotherapyAssociation #SupportOurTradies #HealthAndWellBeing

A very important topic in a global perspective. The need for focus on rehabilitation and ressources for rehabilitation in low income countries is huge. With more rehabilitation in those countries living standards and quality of life can be increased for a lot of citizens with disability and severe illness. Education is crucial and it is essential to educate local personal e.g. in physiotherapy and interdisciplinary teams in rehabilitation approaches. I hope WHO and other stakeholders will keep working on bringing education and rehabilitation to especially 3rd World countries.
