This quote resonated deeply with me as I read Elon’s biography and embarked on my internship at Tesla in early 2024. From a young age, I’ve always imagined the endless possibilities that technology could bring to the world. Whether as a consultant, product manager, or cofounder, I’ve remained committed to keep learning and innovating—seeking ways to leverage technology to create a meaningful impact. Now, after completing an incredible 5-month internship at Tesla, I want to take a moment to reflect and appreciate the journey. As a Product Manager Intern, I had the privilege of learning from some of the brightest minds in the industry and immersing myself in one of the most innovative companies on the planet. During this experience, I pioneered the development of three internal software products for the Global Supply Management team. It was an extraordinary opportunity that taught me the importance of taking risks and pushing boundaries, even when the odds are against you. None of this would have been possible without the support and guidance of my fantastic mentor and manager, Jui Han Lin—thank you for believing in me and helping me grow! I also want to express my gratitude to Jonathan Gross, Li-Heng Lu, Edward Friedman, Benjamin Mousseau, and the rest of my amazing teammates for making this experience both enriching and unforgettable. With over 2 years of diverse internships in data analytics, consulting, and product management, I feel more prepared than ever to contribute to projects that can truly change the world. If you were dreaming of spending your summer interning at #Tesla, you might want to hold off on packing your bags and booking your flights. #ElonMusk's electric car company has been rescinding summer internship offers just weeks before they were set to begin. So, instead of nurturing for its future growth, it has been unceremoniously tossed aside, leaving countless #college students scrambling for alternative summer plans. Of course, this internship fiasco is just the latest in a string of troubling signs that all is not well at Musk's car company. Between layoffs, key executives jumping ship, and a broader flatlining of EV sales, it seems like Tesla is more of a house on fire than a shining beacon of #innovation. Way to go, Elon! So, to all the college students out there who had their Tesla #internship dreams crushed, I say this: keep your heads up and keep pushing forward. There are plenty of other companies out there that would be lucky to have you, and who knows, maybe you'll even end up working for a CEO who actually cares about nurturing talent and building a stable, successful company.

Unfortunately, today I am writing to say I am an intern who had their offer rescinded. While the news is certainly disappointing, I still maintain a high level of respect for Tesla and all its employees. Let me tell you, as a former intern, why the Tesla Charging team is so great: - They are open-minded. They approach everyone with a learning mindset, as well as helping others learn. - They are passionate about what they’re doing and they’re innovative. They love to brainstorm on improving processes. - They prioritize collaboration and teamwork, recognizing that great ideas often come from collective effort and diverse perspectives. - They are committed to sustainability, constantly seeking ways to reduce environmental impact. - They value feedback and actively ask input from stakeholders to ensure their solutions meet the needs of the community. - They embrace challenges with enthusiasm, viewing them as opportunities for growth and development rather than obstacles to be avoided. In my 6 months of internship at EHS for Charging, I had the chance to work with these great people. Starting a new role can be challenging, but the lessons learned from these challenges are invaluable. As a Technical Product Analyst at Tesla, I was captivated by the fast-paced, high-quality work environment of the company. This internship offered a wealth of experiences and insights that have significantly shaped my professional development. Here are the top things I learned during my spring internship: 1. Understanding customers - Learning about customer's behaviour and improving software products to enhance customer satisfaction was a primary focus. I learned to analyze customer feedback meticulously, identify pain points, and collaborate with the teams to implement changes. This approach not only improved user experience but also fostered a deeper connection between Tesla and its customers. 2. Collaborating with Stakeholders - Clear communication is vital in the corporate world, and working with various stakeholders was instrumental in my growth. I developed skills in articulating project requirements, negotiating priorities, and ensuring that everyone was aligned with the project goals. This collaborative effort ensured that projects were completed efficiently and effectively. 3. Improving Tesla Operations - Diving into the operational side of Tesla was a new and exciting challenge. It required a comprehensive understanding of current processes and identifying areas for improvement. By analyzing workflow inefficiencies and proposing streamlined solutions, I contributed to enhancing Tesla's operational effectiveness. I think big startups like hiring students from Delhi University more than others. It's because, just like we want popular brands, they want students from a popular brand like DU. But in my view, this perception should be changed. And he did it! So, we discussed the roles that are pretty easy to target. (just to increase the chances) Strategized cold mailing and structured the CV well. And bang! He converted an internship with the esteemed Cars24 in the Strategy and Growth domain. Whenever I hear news like this, it reminds me of the hard times I had been through to get an internship back in the day. Hey everyone! 👋 I have some exciting news to share! I am happy to announce that I accepted an internship this summer with Rivian as an Autonomous Infrastructure Software Engineer on the Embedded Autonomy team! This journey started a year ago at the National Society of Black Engineers National Convention in Kansas City. I had the privilege of attending with my chapter from Santa Clara University (NSBE SCU) and I found myself waiting in a never-ending line at the Rivian booth. This was my first experience in the world of professional networking and let alone one of the biggest engineering conventions, which was filled with a combination of intimidation and imposter syndrome. Once the wait was over, I had a brief conversation with Jessica Dawson Collier, which inspired me to pursue an internship at Rivian. A year later, I look back at all of my personal, academic, and professional growth and feel so grateful. Thank you so much, Emma Jimenez, Scott Moser, and Errick Flores for this amazing opportunity, smooth interviews, and everyone else that helped me throughout my process. Here are a few key things that played a key role in my success: ✅ Quality > Quantity: One of the biggest things I learned through 70+ applications, dozens of interviews, and multiple offers is that the quality of your application will make you stand out! This means focusing on being concise, articulate, and giving a thoughtful project presentation. ✅ Persistence and Patience: You never know what the future holds, and each bit of work you put in each day will pay off, so never stop improving and using your setbacks as motivation. ✅ Networking: Always keep connecting with people and finding ways to stay inspired.
