The UK Climate Projections (UKCP) is a set of Met Office tools and data that shows you how the UK climate may change in the future. It integrates the latest scientific understanding of climate change, considering various scenarios and uncertainties. This includes data on temperature, rainfall, sea level rise and other climate variables, enabling policymakers, businesses, and communities to plan and adapt effectively. These projections are vital for informing decisions related to infrastructure, agriculture, energy, health and more, helping the UK mitigate risks arising from a changing climate. Excited to share our new book chapter published in De Gruyter Handbook of Climate Migration and Climate Mobility Justice. Here, we interrogate which among the two – planned relocation or in situ adaptation – hold better prospect for just adaptation? We find that regardless of the mode of adaptation, when the powerful act to subvert adaptation processes to benefit the elite, it exacerbates the vulnerability of marginalized groups, leading to unjust outcomes: https://lnkd.in/gccMmTv3 If youre interested to read this critical piece, please let me know and I'd be happy to share a copy!

The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), essential for keeping the UK's climate mild, is weakening. An open letter from climate scientists, including Professor David Thornalley from UCL, warns of the risks: more extreme weather, rising sea levels, and disrupted ecosystems. This underscores how climate change could severely affect the UK if we don’t act urgently. It’s a call to push for immediate global action to reduce emissions and protect the oceans. #ClimateAction #AMOC #UKClimate #ActNow #SaveOurPlanet https://lnkd.in/gCiGnE8C
