A mentor of mine recently reinforced the importance of celebrating every win, so I’d like to share a significant career milestone. Last year, I strategized and led the first government action taken in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, using the newly introduced Building Safety Act 2022. This action was successful. The attached article provides further details. https://lnkd.in/eNVtF4xK Hundreds of leaseholders now have the certainty of when their homes will be made safe from life critical fire safety defects. It has been a privilege to work with very talented individuals from multiple sectors to achieve this result. Since then, I have been working hard on changing the behaviour in this sector. It has not been easy, but it has been the honour of my career so far to try and make a difference to those who need it the most. I’m really looking forward to continuing the delivery of the building safety agenda – it’s a monumental challenge but you can bet I’m up for it. #careerwins #buildingsafety

St William gets go-ahead for 245-home Stratford scheme. A section 106 legal agreement has been finalised for the 2.2-acre brownfield site, which will be transformed into a 245 home mixed-tenure neighbourhood close to West Ham and Stratford Stations. The development will now need Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator before St William can start on site... So which Councils did not make it for the initial deadline? I have projects in several where the highest Class of registration is CLASS 1. Ashford, Dover, Ealing, Maidstone, Merton, RBKC, ... others have 1 person in a higher class but rarely for a higher-risk building. How is your local council doing? Will they make it for the extension? From my perspective, they are either silent or hoping for the best from the email exchanges I had with them.
