Today is #GivingTuesday, which is a time that we seek to give back and support local organizations that are driving positive change within our communities. However, there are other ways we can "give" that don't specifically require a financial donation... 1.) Make a donation of nonperishable food items, unopened toys, or hygiene products to a local organization that's supporting families in need this Holiday Season. It's an easy way to bring joy to those in need of it the most, and if it's led by a localized non-profit, you can even receive a tax credit that can be written off at the end of the fiscal year. Wilson County has multiple locations who are supporting those in need this Holiday Season, including RC3 (see attached). 2.) Give your time to support organizations who are making positive changes within your community. While financial compensation does make a difference, there's nothing more valuable than your time and support. 3.) Give the gift of life by carrying Naloxone (Narcan). The training takes 15 minutes and all doses are distributed free of charge (in Wilson County) thanks to various collaborative partnerships led by our local Health Department. Finally, if your heart is set on giving to a local non-profit, please consider the Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition in support of our efforts to battle the disease of addiction within Wilson County. This #GivingTuesday, whether it be financial or time related, please consider supporting agencies who are actively working to make our communities a safer, healthier, and overall better place for all of us to call home.

The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme introduced by the police in partnership with other agencies, which encourages people living with dementia and carers to compile useful information which could be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing. The form should be completed in advance, and all vital details, such as medication required, mobile numbers, places previously located, a photograph, etc., should be recorded. If a family member or friend goes missing, the form can be easily handed to the police to reduce the time taken to gather this information. ❔ When should the form be sent to the police? 👉 The police only need the form when the person is reported missing. There is no need to hand it to the police before then. ❔ Where should the form be stored? 👉 It should be stored securely, in accordance with data protection laws, but where it can be accessed quickly. ❔ What should a caregiver do if the person goes missing? 👉 After you have conducted an 'open door' search of the address, grounds, and outbuildings and you believe a person is missing, alert the police as soon as possible. If you believe the missing person is at a high risk of harm, please call 999. Tell the police operator that there is a Herbert Protocol person profile. If you're deaf or hard of hearing, use the textphone service 18000 or text on 999 if you’ve pre-registered with the emergencySMS service. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eVXb8GHQ #herbertprotocol #charity #dementiasupport #carersupport
Our new Herbert Protocol website is nearing completion. Soon, we will be ready to launch our project to create a free, secure, and easily accessible national database. This platform will allow people living with dementia (PLWD) or their caregivers to store a digital version of the Herbert Protocol form. The goal is to make this information available and accessible for emergency services, ensuring a quick and safe return for PLWD who may get lost or confused about their location. https://lnkd.in/eWcfft2x #herbertprotocol #dementiasupport #charity

Our partner Charity Babyzone, is running a Winter Campaign to raise funds to continue their brilliant work and launch two new Babyzones in 2024! 👏 This Friday, to support the campaign, Will B., a BC Pioneer working with Babyzone, is attempting to complete The Arc of Attrition; the UK's hardest winter 100-mile footrace. 🏃♂️ The event circumnavigates the Cornish Coastline on the South West Coastal Path; it is notorious for the challenging terrain and inclement weather, and needs to be completed in under 36 hours, with the majority of this time spent in darkness. 🌧 You can support the campaign here 👉 https://lnkd.in/enX_DUmS All donations will be matched by another donor, meaning your support will go twice as far helping children and families! About Babyzone? 👶 - The founding team at Babyzone recognised the need in the UK for families with children aged 0-5 years to have a place to play, sing, dance, read and learn together. In a report released by UNICEF in 2022, research revealed that 2.2 million families in the UK need support for their babies and toddlers. - That is why, since 2019, we have been on a mission to increase access to early-years learning opportunities. Our families have access to over 25 free baby and toddler sensory classes a day at each of our sites. We are building the communities of Barking & Dagenham, Croydon and Barnet and welcome over 200 families a day at each of our sites. - Our family's experience: “the ability to attend a free (because as a single-income family money is non-existent) parent group that allows me access to other parents, care providers and even specialist community help and advice is amazing. But more importantly, my daughter gets to meet other adults, children and make friends of her own and enjoy being a toddler. Something that she couldn't do beforehand.“ #BabyZone #Charity #Fundraising #BlenheimChalcot

Giving back through charity, especially to children beneficiaries, is a powerful way to make a lasting impact on future generations. Children's charities address essential needs such as education, healthcare, and basic necessities, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. By supporting these causes, donors not only provide immediate relief but also contribute to the long-term development and well-being of children. One of the most rewarding aspects of charitable giving to children is witnessing the direct and profound effect it can have on their lives. Educational support, for instance, opens doors to brighter futures by equipping children with the knowledge and skills needed to break the cycle of poverty. Healthcare initiatives ensure that children receive vital medical care, improving their quality of life and allowing them to grow up healthy and strong. Moreover, charitable acts foster a sense of community and shared responsibility. When individuals and organizations come together to support children in need, it creates a ripple effect, encouraging others to join in and contribute. This collective effort not only amplifies the impact but also instills values of empathy and compassion within the community. I hosted this event with 1,000 children in attendance for the AO Foundation. We had an amazing time.

Nov. 28 is GivingTuesday - the world's largest generosity movement in Canada. Next Tuesday, support Lumenus as we kick off our 2023 Resiliency Campaign From GivingTuesday to the end of December, help us raise funds for our Resiliency Fund! Donations to The Resiliency Fund provide Lumenus with funds to help a client with any unexpected need that stands in their way on their journey back to wellness. This year for the Resiliency Fund, Teresa – a donor, fundraising committee member and longtime friend of Lumenus – will lead a donation matching challenge. For every dollar raised up to $5,000, she will be matching your gift, meaning your impact on the community can be doubled. As Teresa told us: “When I heard $80 stood in the way of a youth trying to have a fresh start after successfully completing a Lumenus intensive treatment program, my heart sank and I thought how as little as a month’s worth of a second cup of coffee can make a pivotal difference in the life of this youth at the right moment. I thought I can help.” Every situation is unique; that’s why the Resiliency Fund is designed to offer versatile solutions to the financial challenges that clients may experience. Your contributions will help clear the path to someone being able to attend our sessions, keep their children safe or overcome financial burdens that stand in the way of their wellbeing. Help us raise $30,000 to support clients in need. Donate at the link below! https://lnkd.in/gKnmMMG6
