Cargo Containment System, The cargo containment system of LNGCs is now being equipped with membrane type instead of moss type. This is because GTT(Gaztransport & Technigaz) construction method is superior in terms of construction cost and operation compared to other construction methods. GTT divides the membrane into two types, Mk III and NO 96. (Optional specification available for the insulation.)

The benefits of trial pitting This week we’ve been carrying out a preliminary investigation on a brownfield site with a long, and complex history. We are using a range of techniques to investigate the site, including using trial pits to assess the shallow soils. The use of trial pits allows the detailed visual assessment and sampling of shallow soils, assessment of excavation stability and the identification of subsurface obstructions to a level of detail which other techniques don’t provide. During an intrusive investigation it’s important to use a range of techniques appropriate to your site and CSM, but the benefits of trial pitting should not be overlooked. Clearly, like all investigation techniques there are H&S risks, which need to be assessed and managed correctly to ensure everyone remains safe.

It’s only February and we’ve already completed one of our major projects for the year! 🎇 Our team recently completed the ‘Dump Station 1 Rail Beam Remediation Project’, spanning 33 days and involving over 16,500 work hours. This project focused on refurbishing and strengthening the rail beams within one of our two dump stations, and is the largest planned outage conducted at NCIG, marking a significant achievement for our team and contractors! ⚙Through routine maintenance of the plant, our Assets Management Team identified grooving in the structural steel of the rail beams within Dump Station 1, caused by the movement of the rails during coal discharge. Though minimal, these grooves posed a risk of deepening over time, which could lead to a derailment. To address this issue, the rails were removed, and the rail beams were stripped back and sandblasted, then the grooves were filled using a plastic/metal composite, creating a flat surface. With the rail beams once again flat and level, metal plates called ‘sole plates’ were bolted to the beams, to hold the rails in place for the future. ⚙Additionally, our team took the opportunity to complete structural remediation works on the underside of the dump station to optimise the outcomes of this outage. With several sites identified as ‘at-risk’ of future failure, our team proactively have reinforced these problem areas and installed access ports to make future maintenance activities easier. Together, these preventive measures will ensure Dump Station 1 operates at full capacity throughout its predicted lifecycle. We're happy to have Dump Station 1 back in operation, once again facilitating a seamless connection between our customers and their global consumer base!
