I've been attending this online event. In UK time, it started at 4 PM. Loved every minute of it. I highly recommend it, it's a a real tour-de-force of this amazing platform. Bonus elements this year: presentations from AWS -and- Oracle. Both companies have strong ties to .NET, they support .NET, and their products are also supported by .NET. I few highlights of what I got this year from this event: - .NET Aspire. Dubbed as "the Spring Framework of .NET", it's an application platform/framework second to none. It has amazing support in tooling/IDEs and it's got rich (and I mean, rich) training support - Microsoft Orleans. Are you still implementing "stateless" services when the problem itself is stateful in nature? Are you saving state quickly into the DB to keep the services "stateless"? Are you placing distributed caches in front of the DB to speed up the "stateless" services? Are you placing messages on persistent queues to implement async of actual state transfer, thus keeping the services "stateless"? If you think you're doing stateless this way, then think again: you're not doing stateless, you're just chasing the elephant around the room. In other words, you need something like Microsoft Orleans, that originated in Microsoft Research, and it solves precisely the problem of distributed statefulness in a reliable, efficient, and elegant manner. On top of that, it has excellent integration with Aspire and with the .NET ecosystem of tooling. - .NET Foundation. Very nice exposition on its evolution, challenges, and future. Feeling like contributing to Open Source? Then this Foundation may be the answer. In short, the .NET Conference, fully online and free, is well worth attending. As a bonus for UK (and more Eastern lands), the time difference allows for joining it in the evenings, with less pressure on daily obligations.
