Today marks a significant milestone for me – celebrating my 6-month journey at Snigel. It's been an incredibly fulfilling start to my professional career, one that has exceeded all my expectations. There's this misconception that moving away from academia to pursue other career paths means you're giving up or accepting defeat. You also wonder: What if the grass isn't greener? What if all the hard work I put into earning my PhD amounts to nothing outside of academia? 🤔 Graduate degrees CAN indeed pave the way for meaningful and fulfilling careers beyond academia. As I've entered the world of marketing, I've found each day to be a fresh adventure, full of challenges that spark my creativity and critical thinking. Plus, the dynamic nature of the tech industry ensures I'm always learning and keeping up with the latest trends. There's never a dull moment. Sure, there are challenges that often accompany the transition. For instance, it took me awhile to understand marketing concepts like SQLs, Bottom of the Funnel, CRO, Lead Generation 🤯 But thanks to the patience and support of my work buddies (shout out Kev Anderson and Ira Nikolaou), who not only helped me navigate this new terrain but also injected humour into the learning process, the journey has been all the more enjoyable. #altac #highereducation #phdcareers

Here’s some tips: 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿: Explore the various student societies and clubs. Joining one or two can help you meet people with similar interests. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: While not everyone enjoys large parties, they can be a great way to meet people in a relaxed setting. Just know your limits and stay safe. The final year of our BTech journey draws to a close and I can’t help but look back on the rollercoaster we’ve been through. In our first year, we were just students, full of excitement. Those were the days of carefree fun, discovering new friendships, and navigating the initial hurdles of college life. In our second year, we embraced the challenges with growing confidence, finding our stride and diving deeper into our passions. It was a time of exploration and self-discovery, with late-night study sessions and a lot of gossips. By the third year, we were a pro in balancing coursework with extracurriculars and making the most of every opportunity. But now, as we face our final year, the mood has shifted. The carefree days have given way to a visible sense of urgency and stress. We’re all deeply immersed in shaping our futures, and the weight of career decisions and future plans is more real than ever. #BTechJourney #CollegeLife #FinalYearFeels #BittersweetEndings #CareerReady #FromStudentsToProfessionals #MemoriesMade #FutureAhead #EngineeringLife #LastSemester #EndOfAnEra #NewBeginnings
