Shipping is one of the hardest costs for eCommerce businesses to predict. It’s super common for retailers to lose money on shipping because of unexpected charges. Why does this happen? There are lots of factors beyond weight and distance that influence the cost of shipping. Address type is one of the most overlooked. Carriers charge more for residential addresses than commercial ones, but often treat them the same when calculating rates. A small error with address types can easily snowball into thousands $$ in hidden fees, especially when you’re shipping at scale. At ShipperHQ, we help #ecommerce stores avoid surprise costs by providing accurate shipping rates upfront. Our address validation tool is one of many ways we help prevent those unexpected charges. 👉 Want to dive deeper into the nuances of address validation? Which is more important, speed or price? While we inherently know a combination of the two is critical, there is something to be said about how long one will wait to receive their good deal. "In just over a year, Temu, a Chinese-founded e-commerce company, became the most-downloaded app in the U.S. The Wall Street Journal breaks down how its continued growth could redefine online retail, just like Amazon’s speedy delivery did." Temu, along with SHIEN, TikTok are changing the face of eCommerce and rivaling the big players like Amazon and Alibaba.com But are Temu shoppers getting "good deals" or just cheap stuff? And is their growth sustainable? And what is Amazon's reaction? I recommend watching the (free) video....it'll be shown (and discussed) in class for sure! #CSCCSCM #FastFashion #retail #discount #china #imports #ecommerce #supplychain #logistics #lastmile #airfreight

I’ll bet that you purchased something online within the past 48 hours. Experience & research are on my side. ☑️ UPS says #ecommerce shipping volumes have risen 30% since 2022. ☑️ Online shopping will grow another 10% annually. ☑️ Half of consumers will buy online this year. At Zero Down and FreightOptics, our e-commerce clients say the same–people are buying online fast and furious. But it’s not without challenges. Clients also tell me the #omnisupplychain has squeezed capacity & fulfillment speed, bottlenecks, & peak management. Here’s what I tell them: Change must be met with change. Reassess your processes for today’s demand. Your past models aren’t working, especially if you’re still relying on manual labor. The only way to match the e-commerce boom is with AI and automation. Let me take a look at your e-commerce challenges–I’ll bet there’s a place where we can integrate automation for increased efficiency and decrease human error. Take me up on it. Dm me. #supplychain #transportationmanagementsystem #automation #ecommerce #shipping

📝 10 - E-commerce boost series [5/10] 📈 #5 Rethink Free shipping Here's the thing: Small orders can wreak havoc on your unit economics. Consider implementing a free shipping threshold. Setting this limit to 50-75% of the average order value (AOV) seems like a good start. Indeed, this tactic might lead to a minor dip in conversions. But your overall revenue - and crucially, the margin - will likely shoot up. How does it work? 💡First, the "small fries" orders get taxed at checkout. 💡Secondly, it's an instantaneous injection of high-margin revenue into those low-value orders. 💡Thirdly, your customers will naturally gravitate towards larger baskets, especially when presented with related offers at checkout. This will cause your AOV and net revenue to surge.
