ROADIS, as a member of the IBTTA, is proud to announce its participation in #BeSafeTogether, a new global #roadsafety campaign to educate drivers about the actions they can take to make our roads safer for all users. The campaign includes global messaging, digital promotion, and public and driver engagement, including IBTTA’s first Global Road Safety Week, which will take place from June 24-28. ROADIS will participate in the campaign, showcasing the tolling industry’s commitment to safety through our work to build and maintain safe roads and emphasizing to drivers that the little choices they make at each step of their journey can make a real difference in others’ lives. For José Antonio Labarra Blanco, CEO of ROADIS, "for many years now we have adopted the slogan: your safety is our priority. We are permanently working on initiatives to help increase this safety, including awareness campaigns for all drivers travelling through our highways. Observing speed rules, not using your mobile phone at the wheel or not drinking alcohol before driving are simple actions that save your life and the lives of other road users". ROADIS will participate in the campaign through spreading awareness on road safety through Social Media in all its channels and countries around the world and sharing initiatives taken by to improve safety at ROADIS. #TheLittleThingsAddUp #YourSafetyOurPriority

Yesterday marked the end of Australia’s annual National Road Safety Week (5 - 12 May). Created to honour loved one’s who have lost their lives or been injured on Australia’s roads, this initiative highlights the pressing need for collective responsibility to make our roads safer. This is why we have made it our mission is to achieve zero transport fatalities. As we conclude this week, let us each pause and ask ourselves, are we doing everything we can to ensure the safety of those on the road? Let’s continue to work together, prioritise road safety and strive for a future where every journey is a safe one. #Optix #OptixAU #safelyhome #roadsafety #driversafety #trucking #truckdriver #fleetsafety #fatigue

I took part in an interesting discussion last night on TalkTV about the safety of cyclists and pedestrians, calling for a ‘new settlement on road safety’ built around ‘evidence-based policy’ that recognises the emergence of ‘new forms of mobility’. One of the areas that Petrie Hosken wanted to focus in on was the data that is informing our approach, frustrated by the lack of reporting from crashes that occur of the public highway (e.g. in parks and on towpaths). There is so much that we can do to learn from novel data, arising from technologies like See.Sense where we can now understand much more about risks to groups like cyclists and scooter riders wherever they are. This is the sort of exploration of evidence and risk that would sit really neatly within the Road Safety Investigation Branch that was promised by the last government, but has been quietly been dropped. This is one of the four actions demanded in #manifestoforroadsafety led by Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety and signed by over 30 leading organisations. “There is no such thing as safe speeding” ❗ As Rural Road Safety Month comes to an end, remember that safe driving isn’t just a monthly focus – it’s a daily commitment. It is vital that all point to point drivers maintain a safe speed and continue to remain vigilant on rural roads. ☑️ Let’s wrap up with some of our top tips from our educational ‘shorts’ for point to point transport services on regional, rural and remote roads: - Look out for animals and hazards, particularly at sunrise and sunset - Travel on the safest route - Conduct pre-departure checks to ensure your vehicle is safe to drive on rural roads – for example, check tyres, lights, windscreen wipers - Choose the right vehicle - Drive to the conditions 🎧 Our final educational ‘short’ features Andrea Hamilton-Vaughan with some important takeaways on how your speed will play a part in keeping yourself and others safe: #RuralRoadSafetyMonth #PointToPointTransport

We get a lot of questions about safety. Not from our users, because they actually feel safe and have reported 0 uncomfortable, unsafe or illegial situations. But when you're not a carpooler, we get the worry: how can you trust someone you don't know? Obviously, a carpool facilitated by a digital platform is much safer than hitchhiking, as personal data is stored. But there's no need to stop at that point, so we're happy to announce the release of an integration with the Danish government id, MitID, and that similar features are on their way in Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden. So far, 3/4 of the new users verify as part of setting up their profile. This type of research-to-practice is close to heart at SafeMobility: making a real difference for safety outcomes. Sponsored by my colleagues at Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and conducted by Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC). Look this up if you are thinking about buying a second-hand car.

📢 The Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom (DfT) is accepting expressions of interest from local authorities for brand new e-scooter trials 📢 It's open to local authorities that do not already have an e-scooter trial in their area, and is an exciting opportunity to join the 22 trials already underway across England! We've been running three e-scooter trials across the Solent area since 2020. These trials have captured invaluable data on e-scooter usage, mode shift, safety, equity and diversity and user perceptions. For example, within just over 1 year of launching, 283,000 car and taxi trips had been replaced by rental e-scooters. These data are shared regularly with the DfT to help inform future policy. Councils have until 15 November 2024 to submit an application for a new trial area. #SolentFTZ #escooters #EOI #expressionofinterest #sustainabletransport #sustainability
