April is Testicular Cancer Awareness month. Baggy Trousers Uk - Get up close and personal with our self examination guide and #CHECKYOURNUTS STEP 1 The best time to check yourself is after a warm shower or bath as your skin is most relaxed; so take the time to sit back and relax before you get hands on. STEP 2 Only examine one at a time by taking the testicle between your thumb and first two fingers and roll with consistent gentle pressure. Feel for any lumps or changes in shape, size or consistency. Familiarise yourself with the epididymis towards the back of the testicle. It should feel rope like and tender to pressure, this is normal. STEP 3 If you notice a change or you feel a lump, don't panic. Most lumps are not cancer but if you do notice anything unusual or anything concerning you should visit your doctor as soon as you can. If caught early enough testicular cancer is highly curable. REMEMBER Most men have one testicle that is larger than the other or find that one testicle may hang lower than the other or both of these. This is very typical and is definitely not a reason to worry. https://lnkd.in/dtdJAuqt

I have ran 1000km out of 2400km on a mission to raise awareness around Testicular Cancer and the importance of men’s health. Testicular cancer affects an average of 2400 men in the UK annually, yet there is still a lack of knowledge surrounding this disease, especially among young men aged 15 to 39. Early detection is key in the successful treatment of testicular cancer. By spreading awareness and encouraging regular self-examinations and check-ups, we can increase the chances of timely intervention and save lives. Let's unite in the fight against testicular cancer. Together, we can make a difference and prioritize men's health. #RaiseAwareness #MensHealth #TesticularCancer #HealthAwareness #havethegutstocheckyournuts #construction #running

#WorldCancerDay - 4th February A day when we pledge to continue to help raise awareness of Cancer, to encourage its prevention, early detection & treatment. A day when we remember those who are no longer with us, and who have been cruelly taken by this horrible disease 💔 many of whom are family and friends of mine and I will never forget them ❤️ A day when we think about anyone effected by Cancer, whether you've had a cancer diagnosis yourself, or have supported someone who has. It’s a relentless horrible disease, and it’s certainly taken me to places I never thought I’d have to go in the past 4 years where I have had to deal with the diagnosis, biopsies, confirming stage 3 cancer, given a life expiry date (which has passed), chemotherapy, life threatening surgery, managing the impact to family and friends, doing it all through a covid world, being professionally abandoned because of the diagnosis, losing my dad to a terminal diagnosis of the same issue as me, managing my own crippling mental health challenges, continuing fighting for my medical support and focusing on recovering to confound critics and expectation, whilst also committing to raising funds and awareness for cancer charities. Whilst we search for a cure, early detection is key! If caught early most cancer’s are treatable in 90% of cases. So please get checked out if in doubt ‼️ Can anyone give a substantive reason to not commit to checks and give themselves maximum to enjoy life and others who add value to it? Didn’t think so! #takingafewminutescanpreservealifetime #mcmillancancersupport

Survivor turned advocate. Pan Mass rider raising funds for cancer research. Sharing early cancer detection through DetecTogether and providing support to fellow NET patients with the Pheo Para Alliance.
https://lnkd.in/g6vp9wdg 4 days to go. In the video in the comments of this post Billy Starr talks about why he started the PMC. Here’s why I committed to the Pan-Mass Challenge I ride because it empowers me. Because I found a way for me to fight back. I SHARE because of all the good the PMC has done in 44 years and the incredible achievement of so many cures made possible by fundraising. I SHARE because it’s not all about raising money and riding a bike. It’s alot about helping others- I’ve learned a lot through my experience and the struggle of this disease. I SHARE because of the kids who have their childhood paused for cancer treatments. I SHARE for all the parents watching their child fight a an invisible monster. I SHARE for my family who struggle with the what if of cancer diagnosis for someone we love. My HOPE is we can change the look of cancer for us all. My HOPE is for cures that are as simple as an antibiotic. My HOPE is for more ways to detect cancer early, for screenings, for genetics and for knowledge to stop cancer when it’s in the earliest of stages and have higher percentage of a cure. #awareness #hope #Earlydetetion #research #childhoodcancerawareness #formyfamily #forabetterfuture I PMC because cancer hasn’t stopped.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month to raise awareness of childhood cancers and how childhood cancer affects families. For this year, A Month of Movement aims to encourage you to move more for the month of September and raise vital funds for research into children’s cancers as you go. Move an extra 30 minutes for 30 days with your children this month. I know school has started but that is all the more reason to move more with your children. You can do 30 minutes at once, break it up into two 15-minute activities or three 10-minute activities. This will be good for you AND good for your children! What are some easy ways that you can get your family to move this month? Write your ideas in the comments. #childhoodcancerawareness #amonthofmovement

Dean had suffered acid reflux and persistent cough for much of his adult life - it was something he thought was an everyday occurrence. He was a wonderful husband to Jo and friend to many - including his hairdressing clients. As Jo says - “Dean was my husband, kindred spirit, soul mate, and my very best friend. He was my sun and my life circled around him drawn by his contagious mischievous energy. We literally did everything together, as we had so many common interests, friends and did so for 28 brilliant years together.” In 2019 things started to change with Dean’s health and tests uncovered the awful truth that he had stage 4 oesophageal cancer. He died in October 2020 with Jo by his side. Read more about Dean and Jo’s story on our website: https://lnkd.in/ev-siY4E This is Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month, please join us in #demandinghope for better outcomes for people with Barrett’s oesophagus and oesophageal cancer. Scripting a Brighter Future: How Python Fights Cancer on Childhood Cancer Day On International Childhood Cancer Day, we remember the brave young warriors battling this terrible disease. While the fight can be overwhelming, advancements in technology offer hope, and Python plays a crucial role in scripting a brighter future for children and adults alike. Beyond offering condolences, let's celebrate the innovative tools that empower prevention and early detection. Python, a versatile and popular programming language, is at the forefront of this fight. Let's delve into five key areas where Python contributes to cancer prevention: 1. Decoding the Blueprint of Life: Imagine analyzing vast datasets of human genomes. Python, with its data analysis prowess, excels at this task. Libraries like Pandas and NumPy help uncover genetic mutations linked to increased cancer risk. This enables early interventions and preventative measures for individuals with higher susceptibility. 2. Seeing Cancer Early with AI's Sharp Eyes: Python forms the backbone of machine learning algorithms that analyze medical scans. These algorithms, trained on mountains of data, can detect early-stage cancers with superior accuracy compared to traditional methods. Early detection translates to significantly improved survival rates and treatment outcomes, giving patients a fighting chance. "Parents should never outlive their children" We are so grateful to our incredible family charity partners, set up by families touched by cancer. Without them, much of our research into cancers in children, teenagers and young adults would not be possible. With their help, we have made huge strides in diagnosing and treating young patients. But huge challenges remain. Some children’s cancers remain very difficult to treat, and survival rates remain very poor. Even when successful, many are left with lifelong side effects from harsh treatments. That's why we need more people to join our cause – and help cure more cancer, more kindly. Only together, can we transform the outlook for children and young people with cancer. Our work is ambitious – and we need ongoing support to help us discover kinder treatments and offer more children the hope of a cure. As an individual, setting up a regular monthly gift will have the maximum possible benefit for patients, as it can support our research projects over several years. No parent should outlive their child. Please join us with a regular gift today: https://bitly.ws/3ba3c
