I cannot recall who said this, but it is just one mantra I live by, especially when returning to training after a long hiatus! The return run today was painfully s l o w and I mean that literally! It’s good to be back! It’s good to be challenged! It’s good to be moving forward… literally, again! Let’s remember this week…sometimes, the pace you are going is just fine, as long as it is forward. You will eventually reach the finish line. Truth in training, business, life…. Happy week ahead! 💪🏼🎉💫❤️ . #forwardisapace #justmovechallenge #inchbyinch #isbetterthannothing #recommendation #exercisemotivation #juststart #strengthandflexibility #befit #healthylifestyle #lifestyle #longevity #exerciseismedicine #purposefulmovement #foryourhealth #livehealthy #befit #rjhfitperspectivellc #certified #personaltrainer #nutritioncoach #runwalkcoach #nutritionstrengthmovement #doallthree #everyweek #htx #heightshouston (No content on this site, regardless of date, should ever be used as a substitute for direct medical advice from your doctor or other qualified clinician.)

Look in the mirror…That’s your competition! 🪞 Your greatest challenge is not others but yourself—your doubts, fears, and habits. It’s one of self-reflection and accountability, reminding us all that progress comes from overcoming our own limitations, improving daily, and striving to be better than the person we were yesterday. A call to focus inward rather than compare ourselves to others. . #lookinginthemirror #selfreflection #muscle #resistancetraining #lifestyle #longevity #exerciseismedicine #purposefulmovement #foryourhealth #livehealthy #befit #starttoday #rjhfitperspectivellc #certified #personaltrainer #nutritioncoach #runwalkcoach #nutritionstrengthmovement #doallthree #everyweek #htx (No content on this site, regardless of date, should ever be used as a substitute for direct medical advice from your doctor or other qualified clinician.)

Why be boring? Honestly. When we're younger, we're always trying to blend in with the crowd. Not stand out. As healthcare workers, we often default to the same, don't we? "Let's be quiet and humble and hope that someone somewhere out there will find out who I am and what I do". Good luck with that! So, it was a breath of fresh air when I, as a GP, went to the #DietitiansUnite event on Friday. I was invited by my good friend and colleague, Dr. Terri-Lynne South who is both a Dietitian and GP as we both share an interest in weight management. What I had planned to learn was fresh ideas from a dietetic perspective, but what I had NOT expected was to be incredibly inspired, and uplifted! Now. What does Nelson Mandela, a vacuum cleaner and Rick Astley have in common? They all form teaching points by none other than Maz Speaks, who uses these examples to show us that our messaging has to: (a) Be different (b) Be interesting And, being a Television Director, of course it made sense that we were directed to sing, dance and pose, "t*ts and teeth!" - implementation of learning is key! I guess that's the beauty of being an outsider. Being a GP who attends an event designed for Dietitians. Having the Opening Plenary delivered by a #BossLady from Show Business. That is where the magic happens, and that's where we learn to pause, dig deep and create change. I am ready to be un-boring, who is with me? #mazspeaks #beunboring #bedifferent #beinteresting

Today, on the International Day of Mastering Conversations that Matter, let’s focus on one of the most crucial discussions we can have with our loved ones: end-of-life planning. It's a perfect opportunity to ask, "What are your wishes for medical care if you can't speak for yourself? Who would you trust to make decisions for you?" Engaging in these conversations now, while we're healthy and full of life, helps ensure that the end of life, whenever it comes, unfolds with grace and ease. Preparing for end-of-life is a profound act of kindness we can extend to our family and friends—it eliminates uncertainty and ensures that personal wishes are honored. If you're unsure about these topics or need some guidance on how to start this discussion, call me. I'm here to support you and provide the resources you need to make these important decisions. #MasteringConversations #EndOfLifePlanning #MedicalCareWishes #DecisionMaking #EmotionalSupport #APeacefulTransition #CommunicateWithHeart #SpiritualGuidance

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 In healthcare, our main 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 is to take good care of patients, both their bodies and minds, and keep them safe. 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 means staying calm and understanding when things get tough. This can happen when people have to wait a long time, situations are confusing, or things don't go as planned. Patience is especially important in difficult situations because: 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀: Patience helps us think carefully, consider all the options, and not jump to conclusions. 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵: When things are complicated, it can be hard to talk clearly. Patience allows us to listen well, explain things simply, and make sure everyone understands. 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀: Sometimes we don't have all the answers right away. Patience helps us stay calm, admit when we don't know something, and gather more information to make the best decisions. 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Difficult situations can make everyone feel stressed or scared. Patience helps us stay calm, support others, and build trust. 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀: When we rush, we're more likely to make mistakes. Patience helps us be thorough, careful, and follow the rules to keep everyone safe. I understand—it’s hard. It’s challenging. It can feel impossible at times. Change is uncomfortable, and there are moments when giving up seems like the easiest option. As healthcare professionals, we see this daily in our patients and often experience it ourselves. But let’s take a moment to pause and reflect, not only for our patients but also for ourselves. • Why are we (or our patients) striving to make this change? • Are expectations realistic, or are they set too high from the start? • Are we making our own well-being a priority? • What are our minds telling us (and our patients) in moments of struggle? • Do we have a support system that encourages our growth? • Are we focused on perfection, or celebrating progress? We are often our own toughest critics, judging every action, decision, and outcome. We see this self-criticism in our patients as well, and we need to remind them—and ourselves—that kindness and self-compassion are key. Setting realistic, intentional goals is crucial not just for our patients but for us, too. Let’s remember to celebrate the small wins, both for our patients and in our own lives: 💧 Drinking an extra glass of water 👟 Adding a few more steps to the day 🥗 Including more colorful vegetables on the plate 🛌 Getting a bit more sleep to recharge 🕰️ Taking time for self-care, even if it’s just 15 minutes 🍫 Enjoying a treat mindfully without guilt These small wins, while they may seem minor, add up. Whether we’re on our own health journey or guiding a patient through theirs, it’s important to recognize that it’s not about perfection—it’s about progress. Each small step makes a difference, and over time, these efforts lead to bigger changes. So let’s continue to be kind to ourselves and celebrate those small victories. As healthcare professionals, the energy we invest in our well-being fuels the care we provide to others. By acknowledging our own wins, we set an example for our patients to follow. What’s your win today? Let’s share and celebrate—together! 🌟 #HealthcareProfessionals #PatientCare #ProgressNotPerfection #SelfCare #CelebrateYourWins #WellBeing #HealthJourney #nutri4life #dietitian
