We had a company-wide Town Hall last night, recapping our 2023 success and sharing our strategies for 2024. Each executive was asked to share a story about their favorite Marc Jacobs item. My story began 16 years ago when I interviewed at the company and didn't get the job. It was devastating, especially for my younger self, because I was just in love with this brand...and I wanted to work there so badly. That love and loyalty for Marc started years before that interview when I made my first purchase at the Bleeker store - blue rubber rain boots. I must have waited in line for two hours for them. They didn't even have my size; I didn't care. Who needs functional rain boots anyway? I think they were $35, and I wore them religiously - at the slightest chance of precipitation. I remember I would even style complete looks around them. 😬 Are we surprised I didn't get the job then? But those $35 boots made me feel like a million bucks. I could be ANYTHING in those shoes...even on a rainy day. And isn't that what we're really doing? Yes, we're selling product. Yes, we're selling fashion. But we're also selling confidence, and empowerment, and individuality. It's that little spark of confidence that could light a fire in someone that gets them to a place they never thought they could be. Which, for me, was here. As CMO, I'm grateful I didn't get that job many years ago because I wouldn't be working with the people I'm working with today during the company's most profitable time in history. Life has a funny way of getting you where you need to be at the right time. Do you have a Marc story? #marcjacobs #makeyourmarc #rejectionisredirection #mymarcstory #fashionisconfidence

So I wanted to share my Marc story when I was in college we had a seminar in Boston with A unique designer whose name was Perry Ellis ….Ellis took the trend of preppy and turned it on its head so we had to see what this designer was about in the meantime when I went up to the stage to meet the Perry Ellis , he asked me about where my journey was, and what I plan on doing with my degree and he told me he had a protégé That he had traveling with him, he wanted to introduce me and this young man’s name was Marc Jacobs couple years later with everything that went on in Marc Jacobs world he came out with the grunge line which change my life in fashion forever I own 30 pieces of the collection and I am proud of each one of these amazing pieces. I am so incredibly lucky to have met Marc at the very beginning. Couldn’t be more proud to wear the special pieces from this collection into work every day and be proud of the Marc Jacobs brand I am part of❤️❤️❤️❤️

I do! It was '06, I was still in college and I'll never forget seeing a pair of Marc Jacobs wideleg trousers in GQ; I couldn't stop obsessing over them as soon as I saw them; something about them made me feel like I wasn't living my best life if I didn't own them. Keep in mind I'm still in school (and broke) but it didn't seem to matter, I needed those trousers. Coming back to reality, .com shopping wasn't big back then and there was no boutique in my city so I'd accepted the fact that I'd have settle with finding the fast-fashion alt to fill my sudden trouser urge. However, the powers that be (fashion gods?) didn't like that idea and lucky for me, I find myself in Vegas for a friends birthday where wouldn't you know, the boutique at Caesars HAD THE TROUSERS! Naturally I try them on (I'm immediately obsessed) and though the responsible thing to do would have been to save that money for bills, I think we all know where this story goes. Fast forward: those trousers are still in my wardrobe and still on rotation, 17 years later. #mymarcstory

Thank you for sharing! My Marc story is about the Marc by Marc Jacobs canvas tote in the early 2000s. I couldn’t afford a Stam but I could afford the MBMJ cotton tote to carry my books and journals in college. It went with me everywhere, from design classes to my job at an alt weekly newspaper and even on dates. It wasn’t the most sturdy tote bag, but it was mine, and I loved it. It carried me through many times, good and bad. And it’s still in my closet today. I never did get a Stam, but I’ve added plenty of other Marc bags to my collection since then.

Could not love this post more! Thank you for sharing Robert I think for all of us, the business of the industry can be so challenging it’s imperative we remind ourselves of the sparks of passion that brought us here in the first place. And the desire to help countless customers have these same wonderful, joyful fashion experiences. Life is challenging- and I can’t think of a rainy day that wouldn’t be made brighter with some bright blue rain boots! #joy

What a great story! It's also reaffirming to hear about the difficulties of working for companies you love; I can relate. My Marc story starts in San Francisco at the Marc by Marc Jacobs store. I bought this sweatshirt after graduate school, a splurge at the time. It's seen better days but is still a favorite. If only I still had my silver Frye boots that I bought their or the leather jacket that had a hood. Good times!

What a great anecdote to share, Robert Rizzolo! I remember frequently shopping at the Bookmarc store and miss it! Kind of miss the larger-than-life Marc Jacobs store on Madison Avenue on 59th or 60th St. -- it made my daily walk from home to office so much more enjoyable and creative

One of my favorite parts from Town Hall was hearing this story. Getting to make these magic “Marc’ moments for so many people is what makes us special and I am happy to be here every day still.

I remember those boots! My Marc story is the bag I bought maybe 15 years ago, which was really a reach purchase for me at that time, still new in my career. I’m still using the bag now and in fact wearing it today!
