I recently completed the Ethics and Professional Skills Module (EPSM) of the #ACCA. I consider this module a mini ‘MBA’ that could benefit even non-finance professionals, whether they are early in their careers or more experienced. The EPSM has given me deeper insights into the 'why' and 'how' of prioritizing and managing tasks, as well as becoming more aware of the risks associated with technology use, especially in terms of cybersecurity. It has also emphasized the importance of maintaining professional competence and employability through lifelong learning and personal development. This module has encouraged me to improve my commercial awareness and business acumen, think innovatively, challenge groupthink, question the status quo, and apply professional skepticism positively. It also taught me to use descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive data analysis to solve business problems or seize opportunities, while maintaining a strong ethical stance in data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization. Though the EPSM module comes at a cost, I consider it a 'gift that will keep on giving'. It has been a transformative experience for me, and I highly recommend it to others!
