Origin Materials has successfully turned wood residues into sustainable intermediates at their Origin 1 facility located at the Bio-Industrial Park Sarnia in Sarnia-Lambton. The facility is an anchor of the Sarnia-Lambton Hybrid Chemistry, and successfully shows how the traditional non-renewable hydrocarbon value chain can be integrated with bio-based, renewable, waste, or circular economy based concepts to power sustainable innovation, investment, and development. #sarnialambton #originmaterials #chemistry As the world moves towards more sustainable inputs/feedstocks/processes and products, is there enough buy in from consumers and support from government? I hope that the answer is yes and I believe that not only consumers but government as well will put their money where their mouth is and continue to support companies traditional or new to embrace sustainability as not only a business best practice but as a the right thing to do for everything.
New Origin 1 video! Today we announced the successful conversion of wood residue feedstock into sustainable intermediates at our commercial-scale plant, Origin 1, an evolution from corn starch feedstock! https://lnkd.in/gAPC56Fw

The Full S.I.P. 4.9 on a #solarsclipse delay: Some #goodnews - The EU has saw #carbondioxideemissions from power plants and industrial sites drop a record 15.5 % last year, and the Bay Area saw a 2.6% annual decline in #vehicleemissions rates over a five-year period. The #badnews - 57 oil, gas, coal and cement producers are directly linked to 80% of the world’s global fossil #CO2emissions since the 2016 #Parisclimateagreement. The New York Times looks at innovations in #plasticfoodpackaging, a watch out for #cannedpackaging producers - a study published in American Society for Enology and Viticulture looked at ‘Hydrogen sulfide formation in canned wines under long-term and accelerated conditions.’ A new study, published in Science Magazine, identifies an unintended consequence of #organicagriculture: it seems to lead to the increased use of #insecticides on neighboring fields. https://lnkd.in/eNcif5kN

🌿🔍 Exploring Low-Carbon Intensity Feedstocks: Innovations & Insights by Candor Technical Services, LLC 🔍🌿 At Candor Technical Services, LLC, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable solutions within the oil and gas industry. Today, we delve into the diverse world of low-carbon intensity feedstocks available in the market. 🌱 Common Low-Carbon Feedstocks: Soy: Widely used and abundant, especially in North America. Canola: Another prevalent option, particularly in the same regions. 🌾 Innovative Alternatives: Used Cooking Oil: A sustainable way to repurpose waste. Animal Fats: Efficient and environmentally friendly. Palm Oils: Versatile with a significant presence in the market. 🌻 Emerging Feedstocks: Camelina Plant: A standout from our extensive work on a green refinery in Bakersfield, CA. Camelina is grown in the offseason in wheat fields, requiring less water and avoiding competition with food crops, thus showcasing a low carbon intensity and high social responsibility. ♻️ Recyclable Feedstocks: Rubber & Plastics: Increasingly being integrated into petrochemical complexes, paving the way for innovative recycling solutions. Contributing to circular economy initiatives. As we continue to explore and implement these sustainable feedstocks, we invite you to join us in our mission to reduce carbon footprints and promote a greener future. Let's harness the power of knowledge and innovation together! #Sustainability #LowCarbon #RenewableEnergy #OilAndGas #CandorTechnicalServices #Innovation #GreenFuture #Feedstocks

Phosphorus is essential as a macronutrient for plants and for the production of fertilizers for use in agriculture. In the future, phosphorus will increasingly have to be recovered as a critical raw material through recycling and reused. Due to the increasing trend towards thermal recycling of phosphorus-containing sewage sludge, more phosphorus-containing sewage sludge ash is being produced, which can be seen as a raw material for the production of phosphorus-containing fertilizers. In conurbations, sewage sludge ashes often contain high levels of heavy metals. In order to prevent excessive input into the environment, it is necessary to remove the heavy metals. With the PHOS4green process, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik GmbH has developed an innovative, patent-protected process with which the essential and sought-after nutrient phosphorus can be recovered from sewage sludge ashes and used for new phosphate or compound fertilizers. Economical heavy metal removal increases the raw material potential of the available sewage sludge ashes. The PHOS4green process, modified with regard to heavy metal depletion, thus provides greater planning security with regard to possible future stricter limit values or strongly fluctuating ash loads. Find out more about the process in World Fertilizer Magazine.

What do olives have in common with our product? This eraser is made from at least 56% renewable raw materials. We use plant residues from olive processing, which are ground into a fine "flour" instead of burning it. This olive flour replaces fillers in the erasers, which no longer need to be produced again. Incidentally, the sleeves of the erasers are made from 100% sugar cane fibres, which are produced as waste during sugar production. These are processed into paper without the use of bleaching and dyeing chemicals. #staedtler #sustainability #renewable

How to dispose of straw bales? With the development of agriculture, the amount of agricultural waste such as straw has gradually increased. Traditional treatment methods, such as direct incineration, not only cause a waste of resources, but may also cause environmental pollution. In order to process these wastes more effectively and achieve resource recycling, the straw shredder project came into being. This project draws on European technology and combines it with domestic actual conditions to develop straw shredder equipment suitable for my country's national conditions. https://lnkd.in/gsjZuzdx #waste #shengzhong #shredder #shredderblade #doubleshaftshredder #wasterecycling #SSI #vecoplan #weima #untha #wasteplasticshredder #plasticshreder #plasticcrusher #crusherblade #plasticrecycling #Strawshredder
