Global spending on clean energy tech and infrastructure this year is expected to hit a new record. An exciting and important development to reach our sustainability goals. The spending is expected to exceed $3 trillion for the first time. Of course, we’re going to see some disparities in different areas of the world. China remains in the lead and the US is third in this area. The money will go toward varying initiatives, including nuclear power, electrical grids and energy storage systems. It’s crucial that we find ways to generate electricity in cleaner ways. Ontario has renamed its energy ministry to the ministry of energy and electrification. This revamped ministry will have a crucial role in deciding whether Ontario moves forward quickly with an expanding clean electricity system, or gets bogged down, relying on high-emission gas-fired power. Nuclear will be part of the mix, but it's imperative that Ontario ramps up solar, wind and battery power in the next five years to meet growing industry needs for clean power. ☀️ A federal property once used for the nuclear weapon program will be transformed into the United States' largest solar energy project. After completion, these 8,000 acres of land owned by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) could deliver up to one gigawatt of solar power. The land is currently among the most-polluted land in the country, and if successful, this project would rejuvenate the land.

https://lnkd.in/ge-dmGSG I think this gets to the real crux of the problem Australia faces with energy supply now and into the future. It seems the old Keep It Simple Stupid adage is out the window. if we are going to work with a 20th century system then we should switch base load for base load. Coal for Nuclear for example. We have an energy system involving so many different entities, most of whom are in it for a profit. Using Mark Paterson's analogy, it is hard to see the DC7 switched out for a Space X Rocket anytime soon. The Hon. Peter Dutton MP is talking about government owned #nuclear maybe the government should be taking back and overhauling the distribution and power management systems of our country.
