Great to see such a strong recommendation from the Education Committee for financial education to be compulsory on the PSHE curriculum from key stage 1, via powers in the Children and Social Work Act 2017 to expand what's statutory beyond RSHE content. It reflects level of support for this in recent years from the Children's Commissioner for England, The Centre for Social Justice, the Social Market Foundation and many others, including in relation to helping children to avoid increasingly complex financial harms from a young age. https://hubs.la/Q02y6m4t0

Revenues for privately run special needs schools in England have surged since 2019, with councils increasingly relying on external providers to meet growing demand. Big Changes Coming from Ofsted? Exciting news in education! Ofsted's chief inspector, Sir Martyn Oliver, hinted at scrapping single-word judgments for schools and children's services. He made this announcement at the CHA conference in London, sparking expectations across the sector. With over 20 years in education recruitment and a background as a primary school teacher, I see potential in this shift. Single-word judgments so often fail to capture the nuanced performance of schools and nurseries. Sir Martyn Oliver took on his role last autumn, aware of an impending general election and Labour's winning manifesto to replace these judgments with more comprehensive report cards. As a teacher who strives to create inclusive environments articles like this do sadden me. I don't necessarily have the answers but I do know that the system as it currently is doesn't do enough to support students with SEND. This might come as a surprise or not but it does need highlighting. This is very much from an overall funding, regional and local authority level. Yes individual schools can do a lot but they are also very much stuck at times. Discussion in the comments. Dunlop stated, “There is no room for unnecessary expenses,” highlighting the importance of fiscal responsibility and transparency in managing school board finances.
