Great read: “Beyond war and PTSD: The crucial role of transition stress in the lives of military veterans”. By Meaghan C Mobbs, G. Bonanno #WorthToRead #LecturaRecomendada Although only a relatively small minority of military veterans develop Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), mental health theory and research with military veterans has focused primarily on #PTSD and its treatment. By contrast, many and by some accounts most veterans experience high levels of stress during the transition to civilian life, however transition stress has received scant attention. The article attempts to address this deficit by reviewing a wider range of challenges, rewards, successes, and failures that transitioning veterans might experience, as well as the factors that might moderate these experiences. To illuminate this argument, we briefly consider what it means to become a soldier (i.e., what is required to transition into military service) and more crucially what kind of stressors veterans might experience when they attempt to shed that identity (i.e., what is required to transition out of military service). We end by suggesting how an expanded research program on veteran transition stress might move forward. #PTSD #Stress #Transition #Veteran #War

Client Work With Impact... Because Our Veterans Deserve Better Mentally transitioning from military service to civilian life can be a daunting journey. Veterans' mental health should be paramount to every American. It was my distinct pleasure to work with Dr. Richard Doss, a military clinical psychologist. Dr. Doss works in tandem with the Veterans Administration to counsel military veterans during the various phases of transition into civilian life. The goal was to create a site that resonates with the biggest challenges faced by veterans. A mobile site is easily accessible, succint, informative, and user-friendly. I choose to collaborate on executive consulting projects and initiatives with impact, significance, and legacy. Veteran mental health awareness is an initiative I am proud to support! The Language of the VA Mental Health Rating and Screening process is sometimes difficult to interpret and understand what they are asking. Especially because these exams are stressful, and these questions are hard. I am glad to see the VA updating the process to be more easily understood, to really understand if the question they are asking pertains to you or not. What does supporting the troops really mean to you? The military community is often held in high regard by civilians, but many may not understand why veterans face challenges in seeking help for mental and emotional issues. Stigma, traumatic experiences, lack of awareness, transitioning to civilian life, co-occurring disorders, and limited access to healthcare are all barriers that veterans may face. By recognizing these challenges and working to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and provide comprehensive support, we can improve access to mental health services for veterans and help them achieve better mental and emotional well-being. Let's work together to support those who have served our country. #veterans #mentalhealthawareness #supportourveterans

Bottom line: First Responders and Military Members face situations that are mentally and physically taxing. It's crucial that they have the support they need to maintain their well-being. Their minds should not become battlegrounds where they are constantly fighting stress, trauma, or the emotional toll of their duties. Their bodies should not be treated as emotional punching bags, absorbing the impact of the intense situations they encounter. It's vital for their mental health to be prioritized, as good psychological health is just as essential as good physical health for them to be effective, not only in their roles, but also in their day to day lives at home. #minds #bodies #battle #battleground #battleofthemind #firstresponders #military #soldier #veteran #army #osi #mentalwellness #physicalhealth #ptsi #ptsd #pts #cptsd #support #stress #trauma #impact #prioritizeyourself #ptsdawareness #ptsdawarenessmonth #whatsyourtwenty #takecareofyourpeople #takecareofeachother #wy20 #ems

I believe it's essential to shed light on the often overlooked challenges faced by military veterans as they transition to civilian life. Recent research emphasizes that while a minority may develop PTSD, a majority experience high levels of stress during this shift. This "transition stress" can manifest as anxiety, depression, and relational conflicts, making it difficult for veterans to find the same camaraderie and sense of purpose they had in the military. Understanding and acknowledging these struggles is vital in supporting our veterans' reintegration into civilian life. Have you encountered these challenges, and if so, what steps have you taken to navigate through them? Could this be why veterans sometimes struggle to find long-term stability in their initial job roles post-military service? #Veterans #TransitionStress #MilitaryTransition
