Yeah yeah I know, it's not December yet... but my lovely wife couldn't wait to dress our 'replacement home' for Christmas this year....what do you think? For anyone who doesn't know, this time in 2022 was our last Christmas at what was meant to be our 'forever home'...but a-lass we had no option but to downsize due to the rise in interest rates, IR35 and the pandemic.😥 It has been really difficult to accept our new home, and in a way, the process has forced us to look at 'stuff' differently. Although a cathartic process, and only keeping the cherished 'stuff' that will fit... getting our heads around the reduction in 'space' has been the most challenging of all. However, being a DIY optimist who can spot some poor space allocation, and changing my mindset to thinking more like a motorhome designer, I am sure some things can be improved.😁💪 Since moving in, we have been busily putting things right that weren't working, decorating inside and outside, and trying to make it feel more like our old home...only smaller (note that we like what would be considered 'old fashioned whimsical themes').🏛 Some might say that moving house presents a great opportunity to wipe the slate clean and to do things differently but... This time (4th house now), instead of spending hours trying to decide new colour pallets, wallpaper, furnishings and textures, we decided to keep everything the same, as an experiment...just to see if we can love this house as much as we did the older one. 🤗 We think this house is growing on us now, and we have no doubts that we will settle more over time...What has been your experience? What would you do differently? and Why?
