As most people know a huge chunk of my career has been driven by the importance of community, home and belonging. I wrote in the latest issue of HQM about the importance of community spaces how they can help us feel at home and connect to where we live. The importance of being able to make those connections is so often underestimated, with the general election now set and so many issues at play, I can't help wonder if community spaces and services will get left behind, again, and a what cost? https://lnkd.in/eQNGJQ_b
The April issue of HQM is out & features Hannah Fearn, Neil Merrick, Keith Cooper, Kate Dodsworth, Peter Brown, Richard Blakeway, Helen White, David Pierpoint, Julie Layton, Stephen Blundell, Kate Ratcliffe & more https://lnkd.in/g77GFWZM #ukhousing

One of the best ways for mayors to achieve ambitious goals is by forging stronger connections with the people they serve. And one of the best ways they can do that is by learning how to effectively share more about themselves, their values, and why they care so much about the challenges faced by their communities. That's why a key offering of the Government Innovation programs at Bloomberg Philanthropies, which aim to strengthen city halls so local leaders can implement bold solutions that move us all forward, zeroes in on the power of public narrative skills. Here's how public narrative training has helped four mayors—Mayor Brett Smiley, Bruce Teague, Keisha Lance Bottoms, and Lauren Mcleann—deliver on local priorities and urgent challenges: https://lnkd.in/gBnfrJXD

This is the direction news coverage on the homeless crisis should take today: focusing on solutions, highlighting what’s working, and showcasing not only on the companies driving these initiatives, but also recognizing the role of frontline workers who directly engage with individuals, build trust, and provide hands-on support bringing solutions to life. We must learn from successful models, tailoring them to meet the specific needs of diverse communities. In doing so it is these case managers who bridge the gap between policy and human impact, ensuring that funding translates into real change for the people who need it most. As a community member, you have the power to influence change and end the stigma by making your voice heard in support of those experienceing the homeless crisis and the workers devoted to creating a path to housing.
Breaking: PATH was featured in The New York Times! 📰 In an in-depth report by Jill Cowan, PATH shares a closer look into the work of our frontline case managers. We’re proud to partner with Mayor Karen Bass on her Inside Safe Initiative, working together to bring our unhoused neighbors indoors, provide them the support they need, and work towards long-term housing.
