At Roche Constructors, we're passionate about projects that enrich educational environments! The Dean Petersen Elementary Addition & Renovation in Las Vegas, NV, is a prime example – the project added a 35,434-square-foot, two-story building with 22 new classrooms, creating ample space for student growth and learning. We also tackled extensive upgrades in the existing school, replacing the roof, HVAC controls, and security systems, and enhancing the LAN, clock and intercom systems, and more. Our scope of work included upgrading equipment and telecommunications rooms and installing AV instructional wall upgrades. Beyond the building, we revitalized the school grounds with three new playgrounds, shade structures, and refreshed asphalt paving and fencing. We're thrilled to have played a role in creating a dynamic and safe learning environment for the students of Dean Petersen Elementary! #RocheConstructors #ConstructionCompany #Education #ConstructionSite

More than 59 percent of main instructional buildings were built prior to 2000. So much has changed in safer school design since then. As schools renovate existing buildings, they can improve the level of safety and security on campus by updating their locking hardware. In his latest blog for Building Design + Construction, Ken Cook, Director of National School Safety and Advocacy for Allegion, states visual indication trims that are backwards compatible not only support school safety but can also be cost-efficient for retrofits. Lesson #1 - Don’t don stupid stuff Lesson #2 - If architects did their job there wouldn’t be any need for building science Lesson #3 - Don’t eat these mushrooms. Head to Joe & Betsy’s for some fantastic food and drink. This is from a job today. We actually had to pass on. This was an old unit with R22 gas and was way beyond cleaning and sanitizing. The sad thing about this picture is that a family was living with this unit inside their closet. This has to be one of the worst we have seen. This was in a multifamily apartment community and unfortunately, we find this quite often. We need more education for kids growing up. We need to have programs starting in elementary school going all the way through high school to educate on how to take care of a home and have better indoor environments. It is far too often we meet people who have no idea where the filter is. Only if this house came with a manual. We also need better design. The AC cannot be an afterthought. We must look at the holistic picture. The building science community is pushing for better.

5 Benefits Of Using Bollards In Schools & Universities: 1. Protects Students 2. Illuminates Walkways 3. Encourages Cleanliness 4. Promotes Parking Lot Orderliness & Safety 5. Improves Campus Aesthetic Bollards protect students by creating clear lines between street traffic and walkways. They prevent accidental vehicle ramming on curbs and otherwise stop drivers from coming up onto school property, which is especially beneficial in dormitory areas. Bollards also help students travel safely from one building or area to the next when they are placed at intersections and public transportation areas. These products let students know what sections are off-limits, such as a construction area, to further help them to stay safe. https://lnkd.in/gnKe6-W #urbanarchitecture #construction #projectmanagement #civilengineering #constructionsite #builders #contractor
