One unique fact about asphalt is that it is actually 100% recyclable. In fact, asphalt is one of the most recycled materials in the world. When old roads are milled or torn up, the asphalt can be collected, reprocessed, and reused in new road construction. This process not only conserves natural resources like crude oil but also reduces landfill waste and the environmental impact of road maintenance. Some roads today contain up to 30% recycled asphalt.

Styrofoam can be a real menace for both our residential and commercial customers. One of the biggest issues with proper disposal of styrofoam is not knowing where to take it or how to properly dispose of it. It takes up space in a dumpster most recycling centers in Pinellas county won’t accept it. Styrofoam takes about 500 years to decompose if in a landfill. Luckily here in Pinellas county we utilize the Waste-To-Energy program where items such as styrofoam can burned to power over 45,000 homes and business. While burning styrofoam for fuel is one answer it may not be the best solution. We strive to recycle and repurpose as much as we can here at Junk Rescue Pinellas. Some companies such as Lifoam offer a styrofoam drop off where you can show up and dispose of your styrofoam. You can find other companies who offer services where they come to your business and will compact all the styrofoam onsite and haul it away. styrofoam once recycled usually ends up as coolers or insulation. Junk Rescue Pinellas strives to make sure items such as these don’t find a home in the landfill but recycled and repurposed. #recycle #recycling #junkremoval #styrofoam #smallbusiness #management #zerowaste #propertymanagement https://lnkd.in/e28R2yeH

Our cable recycling plant processes cable waste produced by us and our customers. We've had a number of queries about cables now being classified as hazardous waste as linked to the WEEE Regulations - if they are legacy (old) cables pulled from construction or demolition sites that would be the case as there may be persistent organic pollutants (POPs) present and they would need to be handled separately, as would the old style PILC cables. Other cable waste that is excess from new installations, or pulled from other types of sites, would be non-hazardous. With those, we strip and process all the component layers before they are fed back into the circular economy. https://lnkd.in/ebb9tHMi #weee #cablecompliance #sustainabilitymatters #recycling #circulareconomy

DID YOU KNOW: A recent study estimates the amount of cardboard and other paper in U.S. landfills equals $4 billion in lost economic value. All of this material being sent to landfills impacts methane emissions, waste disposal fees and takes up landfill space that could be used for actual garbage. Cardboard is one of the most recyclable materials and many businesses even take advantage of cardboard rebates. Let RoadRunner help your business navigate all of this today. #Cardboard #WasteManagement #Recycling #Sustainability

WRA welcomes further extension to hazardous RPS. The Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA) has welcomed the extension of the regulatory position statement (RPS) by the Environment Agency regarding waste wooden fence posts and decking from households. RPS 249, which permits household waste recycling centres to handle these items as non-hazardous, was set to expire at the end of March but has now been prolonged until the end of September 2024. This extension comes after discussions between the WRA and the Environment Agency, reflecting the ongoing efforts to address potentially hazardous materials in waste streams. The RPS has been extended multiple times in the past as testing continues on the hazardous nature of certain wood products. The WRA requested this extension to allow more time for sampling and testing of waste wood, particularly fence posts and decking, to confirm earlier findings indicating a decrease in hazardous content over time. However, due to the seasonal availability of these items, more time is needed to gather sufficient samples. The association aims to collect 2-300 samples from its members or their customers to build a robust evidence base. Vicki Hughes, the technical lead on the WRA Board, emphasized the challenges in identifying and sampling these items, especially during colder months when they are less abundant. The extension provides a necessary window for the waste wood industry to continue its efforts in testing and ensuring the safety of handling these materials. ♻ Eco Recycling Services Ltd ♻ provide total waste management services across Staffordshire, Cheshire and Manchester. ♻ ➡Trade waste 240-360-660-1100 litre bins. ➡General waste-glass-cardboard ➡Skip hire 2 to 40 yards ➡Domestic and commercial skips ➡General waste-cardboard-scrap metal-glass ➡Hazardous waste ➡Cardboard and plastic bought anywhere in the UK ➡Stand trailers ➡Bulker service ➡Machine hire diggers -Balers #householdwaste #tradewaste #recycling #environment #sustainability #ecorecyclingservicesltd #mrskips #mrminiskips

Historic Milestone Achieved with First Verified Asphalt Recycling Carbon Credits in the U.S - SurfaceCycle, a provider of premier asphalt milling, recycling, and soil stabilization services across the United States, announces a historic milestone: the completion of the first verified asphalt recycling carbon credits (Verified Carbon Units or VCUs) in the United States. This groundbreaking achievement represents a significant advance in promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship within the road construction industry. Through its innovative Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR) technology, we can not only revolutionize asphalt recycling but also spearhead environmental stewardship and resilient sustainability by preventing the release of nearly 29,000 tons of carbon emissions during a recent construction season—equivalent to planting almost 1.5 million trees. Additionally, these soil stabilization services contribute to longer-lasting, more durable roadways by improving soil properties. They reduce the need for frequent repairs and further decrease the environmental footprint. Click the link below to read the full story... https://lnkd.in/djEN2Sxg
