The National HBCU Business Deans Roundtable is proud to announce our latest collaboration under the National Science Foundation (NSF) funding—The HBCU Ujima Collective: Building Research Capacity at HBCUs through a Grow Your Own Research Corps Model.
This groundbreaking initiative, led by Miles College, aims to enhance research capacity across five HBCUs by aligning and improving research infrastructure and processes. Through the cultivation of highly trained human capital, the project will accelerate the growth of research capabilities at these institutions, fostering a sustainable model for long-term success.
Key collaborating institutions include Morgan State University, Howard University, Winston-Salem State University, and Tennessee State University. Together, these schools will develop a research corps model based on open systems theory, which will not only benefit their campuses but also provide a blueprint for other HBCUs to enhance their own research enterprises.
This project is a significant step forward in strengthening the research capacity of HBCUs and ensuring that these institutions continue to produce world-class research and innovation. We are excited to see the impact this will have on our students, faculty, and the broader academic community.

The HBCU Ujima Collective: Building Research Capacity at HBCUs through a Grow Your Own Research Corps Model
Led by Miles College, this project will assess, align and improve research infrastructure and processes at five HBCUs through the cultivation of highly trained human capital for work in the research enterprise. The project team will use open systems theory to produce a model that builds a corps of research administrators and scientists that can enhance and sustain research capacity across all HBCUs. The project will enhance research capacity at the institutions by speeding up the transition of the research enterprise, establishing the "grow your own model," and disseminating the research and assessment tools to allow model implementation at other institutions.

A message to early-to-mid-career researchers: The competitive nature of research funding is a testament to the incredible value and potential impact of your research. It means that what you are striving to achieve is worth fighting for. Embrace the rejections as redirections, the obstacles as opportunities, and the constructive criticisms as catalysts for improvement.
One of my favorite quotes from Mario Andretti: "Desire is the key to motivation, but it's the determination and commitment to unrelenting pursuit of your goal -a commitment to excellence- that will enable you to attain the success you seek"

The modern economic system is a market economy, which is a capitalist economy where people, not the government--NOT THE GOVERNMENT--own most businesses. In a capitalist economy, prices allocate capital and labor between competing uses, and capital assets can be privately owned and controlled. GOOGLE

EXAMPLE IF YOU NEED TO RAISE MONEY FOR ANY REASON OR LETS SAY THE "HOMELESS" PROBLEM WHICH IS BELIEVED TO BE TIME & MONEY CONSUMING BUT IN ONE DIRECTION TOWARD THE HOMELESS.
HOWEVER CRYPTOCURRENCY CAN POSSIBLE ALLOWS AN EXPENDITURE OF CRYPTOCURRENCY TO BENEFIT ALL WHO USES THE CRYPTO & REGARDLESS OF HOW IT'S CONSUMED.
THEREFORE IF A CRYPTO-CURRENCY REYGITONIUM-G EXISTED IT'S MORE HIGHLY LIKELY THE HOMELESS PROBLEM CAN BE VANQUISHED BECAUSE CURRENCY FINANCES WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE TO BE TAPPED INTO FOR HOMELESS RESOLUTIONS.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has marked a record-breaking $86.9M in total research expenditures for Fiscal Year 2024, continuing its journey toward Carnegie R1 status.
Dr. Can Saygin, UTRGV's senior vice president for Research and dean of the Graduate College, emphasized UTRGV’s research community strong commitment. “These numbers are a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at UTRGV. We are steadily establishing ourselves as a leading regional research university, and we look forward to what lies ahead.”
Additionally, in the 2024 academic year, UTRGV awarded a record-breaking 68 research doctoral degrees – a fivefold increase from 2016. “The growth in doctoral degrees underscores UTRGV’s accelerated progress and its successful attainment of Emerging Research University (ERU) status and National Research Support Fund (NRSF) eligibility – a key milestone in the institution’s strategic plan,” Saygin added.

It was instructive yesterday to attend, at the Vieille Charité, the first seminar of the new Research Laboratory created in Marseille, CeRCLEs (Centre de recherche sur les circulations, les liens et les échanges - Centre for Research on Circulation, Links and Exchanges). There I presented my EHESS-funded project to reconstruct the sources and potential of a transformative paradigm and understanding of democratic modernity. The CeRCLEs laboratory aims to be "a place for methodological and epistemological experimentation through collective surveys and seminars to reflect on the work in progress, built around issues of circulation that are both empirical and conceptual" (https://lnkd.in/d6n8H9eQ).
HHMI’s Science Education Alliance is changing the "Intro to Science” experience for thousands of undergrads at two- and four-year institutions across the US, transforming students into researchers early in their academic journey.
Through the SEA programs, HHMI supports a community of faculty from more than 150 two- and four-year undergraduate institutions.
"Typically, the way that science is taught in most places is not the way that science is actually done. And so, by incorporating real, authentic research into courses, you're not only giving students a better experience that's more aligned with the reality of doing science and being a scientist, but you're also immediately integrating them into the ecosystem in a way that has important scientific impacts." – Danielle Heller, HHMI's SEA Program Officer and SEA-GENES lead scientist.
