This is exactly why we started The Loop ATX! Bringing together talented and driven young professionals! Regular networking groups are not working. More and more young people feel alone and isolated. We are on a mission to connect people! 🚀 Our 3 pillars: 1) Community 2) Professional Development 3) Philanthropy #getintheloop #loopatx #austin #networking #community
As a transplant from St. Louis, I can't say enough good things about Austin, Texas. I moved here in January, joining my co-founder Patrick to pursue our dream of building the most exquisite Pickleball courts on Earth. Since then, we've found endless support from kind and colorful people, also working to make their entrepreneurial visions come true. The city's future couldn't be brighter. And big shoutout to Mason Marozas and The Loop ATX for helping us kickstart our Austin network. New transplants should check them out!

Community Economic Development Planner - Piedmont Triad Region at the North Carolina Department of Commerce
I'm looking forward to participating in this panel discussion in May! As a young professional who was empowered by experienced mentors who treated me as a valued peer, I am so appreciative of vision-focused leadership where the opportunity to learn from people with different perspectives, no matter what age or background, is embraced. Smart leaders live with a growth mindset and know there is always more to be learned.
✨ We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Surry County Economic Development Partnership and the Foothills Young Professionals for this fantastic event! Looking forward to collaborating and making it a success. RSVP HERE: https://lnkd.in/gCgf9i6k

Creating Deliberate Growth® by Quickly Changing the Way Leaders Lead | Award-Winning Executive Coach, Teamwork Consultant, & Business Advisor | Leadership Speaker, Strategic Facilitator, Conference Speaker | Founder
The parade starts in about 90 minutes though the Super Bowl celebration has already begun in Kansas City! How do you celebrate your team??? Don't need to do a parade LOL, though celebrating big deadlines or navigating the unexpected or birthdays or work anniversaries --- it matters. We ambitious humans skip over the celebrations and move on to the next thing to tackle. Invest some time to acknowledge all the great things your team is doing. They will notice that you appreciated them, whether they say anything or not. Why? When you create the celebration experience from genuine appreciation, they will feel YOUR loyalty and engagement, which deepens their own. Notice I said FEEL? Telling them a list of great stuff only entices their intellect. Yes do the list. And then deliver the message with genuine EMOTION so that they can FEEL your appreciation and not just hear list of facts. We humans need to feel appreciated, even in professional relationships. Stay tuned for more teamwork tips! Message me with questions about your own team. #leadeasier #deliberategrowth

I'm thinking about how the multi-generational experience of diaspora is as much about arriving and building community as it is about getting chased away. What can we learn about making community from diaspora tactics? What are the social technologies and the cultural infrastructures through which generations of displaced peoples, diaspora peoples, ground ourselves and set down roots? What are the lessons we can learn from all the communities who now share to these lands? How can we honour the sacrifices of our ancestors and make the cities we live in, more just, equitable and inclusive for those who will come after?
We're thrilled to welcome Sam Carter-Shamai as our new Early Career Canadian Urban Leader. Sam will spend his time with us mapping the impact and resonance of the diasporic communities that shape Toronto, looking at the social technologies and cultural institutions that influence local expressions of multi-national identities, and asking what happened when his family got here and how they’ve made traditions of place together. Check back often to follow Sam’s work!

President and CEO of Women's Affordable Housing Network (recovering Tax Partner in Affordable Housing industry)
What inspired me to work in the affordable housing industry? Can't wait to hear from our panelists Nov 18th in the Windy City! Two pivotal experiences shaped my path: Volunteering for @Junior Achievement each year in Charlotte, NC. I learned firsthand about food insecurity, financial struggle, and unsafe neighborhoods. I’ll never forget asking the children what they were dressing up as for Halloween—one little boy burst into tears because his mom couldn’t afford a costume, and none of the students trick-or-treated in their own neighborhood. (Happy to report my team at PwC bought the entire class costumes.) Poverty Simulation hosted for employees by PwC opened my eyes to the uphill battle faced by those financially behind. Simple things like having direct deposit versus riding a bus to a check-cashing agency, or the dilemma of sick children keeping a parent from work translating to no pay for that day (no paid PTO), reminded me how fragile financial stability can be. These experiences gave me a deep sense of purpose—to help ensure that everyone has access to safe, affordable housing and the opportunity to live in thriving communities. It’s about creating security, opportunity, and dignity for all. #AffordableHousing
Who inspired you to do the work you're doing? For many of us, the answer is family: our mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters. At WAHN's Windy City Luncheon, we'll be focusing on Generational Strength, and hearing from some affordable housing powerhouses about their journeys and the impact their families had on them. Join us at noon on November 18th at Swissotel Chicago to hear from Tracey Scott of the Chicago Housing Authority, Cissy Watson and Ali Watson of Mansermar Development, LLC, Guacolda Reyes of The Resurrection Project and Cat Vielma of Red Stone Equity Partners LLC They embody Generational Strength, and we're excited to hear their stories of leadership, family legacy, and the future of housing.
