Which questions are most relevant for Australian and Asia Pacific offshore wind from a ground modeling perspective? 🌏 Next week, we will explore critical questions such as: ❓ How reliable are our quantitative ground models based solely on seismic data prior to acquiring geotechnical information? ❓ What is the sensitivity of our seismic wave equations to specific Australian soil types, such as carbonates? We look forward to diving into these topics and sharing our insights with the EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) and Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) Perth Branch communities in Perth. 🇦🇺 If you have other relevant questions to discuss or plan to attend, let me know! #OffshoreWind #SiteCharacterization #GeotechnicalEngineering #AsiaPacific #Australia #Conference

Join us for a FREE webinar later this month! Geohazards and Geo-Engineering Constraints Related to Tunnel Valleys and their Infill, with our speaker Dr. Benjamin Bellwald, Senior Geoscientist, Offshore Energy, NGI - Norwegian Geotechnical Institute. 📅 Wednesday 21st August 2024 🕧 1230-1330hrs BST 🖥 Online via Zoom 🎟 Register for FREE at https://lnkd.in/eRuGpZc9 Tunnel valleys are geomorphological expressions of subglacial origin that commonly occur at multiple levels in the shallow subsurface of (formerly) glaciated margins. The origins of the valleys are linked to individual geological events and therefore include a variety of geotechnical properties that are a challenge for marine engineering and development projects. The webinar will discuss the geohazards and engineering challenges related to the complex infill of tunnel valleys. #geohazards #geoengineering #webinar #subseaengineering #underwatertechnology #subsea #marinetechnology #earlycareers #freewebinar #marineengineering #geotechnics #geoscience #engineeringchallenges

Yesterday saw the third instalment of Ternan Energy's Ask Ternan Q&A webinar discussing Geotechnical Engineering issues facing the Offshore Wind sector 🌊💨 In case you missed it you can watch it using the link below; but I can say that it was a lot more enjoyable (for everyone) than this screenshot suggests! 😂 🚨 Spoiler Alert! A group of Geotechnical Engineers think that the main limiting factor to maximum monopile diameter will be the installation and not the design, fabrication or transportation. Imagine that! Also turns out they don't like rocks. At all. Go figure. #askternan #offshorewind #smileandwaveboys
Thank you to everyone who attended our live Ask Ternan Q&A webinar yesterday. Thank you also to the expert Ternan team Mark Finch, Dr Keith Lauder, Adam Caton and Ewan Fielding who answered all your questions on geotechnical engineering. Case Study: Geophysical Survey, Bedrock Mapping in Ireland. Geotechnical data is crucial to mitigate risks when establishing foundations on construction sites. We were tasked with mapping the bedrock on a 17-hectare green field site, where a new data centre was to be constructed. Our objectives were to: ✅ Assess the bedrock depth and competency ✅ Assess the thickness of each stratum above the bedrock ✅ Provide a 3D surface map of the bedrock ✅ Record a resistance dataset for electrical pillar design Read more about our Bedrock Mapping project and see how we used geophysical surveying to deliver accurate and reliable geospatial data for our client.
