It seems as if the PC world we have been pressured to embrace over the last decade is slowly changing. Tip-toeing around topics, lack of accountability, and foregone personal responsibility may be behind us. At least I hope it is in the rearview and getting smaller each time I look up. The first clue for me that there was a shift happening was the Kia Worldwide "No Participation Trophy" commercial in 2016. If you haven't seen it, or don't remember it check it out here. That was a bold move for Kia. They really walked outside of the lines when they put this one on air. It is interesting that you don't immediately find the actual commercial on YouTube when searching. It is a video of someone recording the commercial. https://lnkd.in/dtaCwX2F Added bonus is today's article from The Daily Coach. No parsing words or shunning from individual responsibility here for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Emma Hayes. We know how far the old train of thought got us in 2023 for the FIFA Women's World Cup. https://lnkd.in/dHsu3rdk #bucklumber #noexcuses #emmahayes #fifa #thedailycoach #personalresponsibility #personalaccountability #noparticipationtrophy #kia

Good evening Beza Esubalew, vice president of Rotract club of solyana. l am delighted to share with you a new rotractors club called Rotract club of solyana. Anyone who have interest to be a member. Click the link below: https://t.me/solianaRac People who haven't heard of about rotractor let me explain what Rotract and Rotractors mean. Rotaract focuses on young adults' development as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Clubs also take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. "Rotaract" stands for "Rotary in Action", although the name originally comes from a combination of "Rotary" and "Interact" (International + Action), the high-school level program Rotary International created in 1962. Most Rotaract activities take place at the club level. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings in person or virtually, usually every two weeks, that feature speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions or visits to other clubs. Club members get together on designated days for service project work, social events, or professional/leadership development workshops. To be eligible for membership, you must be 18 years of age and show that you are committed to Rotaract and of good standing in your community. After being approved by the club, members are inducted into Rotaract. Avenues of service include Club Service, Community Service, International Service and Professional Development. Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, and has grown into a major organization of 11,172 clubs and nearly 170,000 members in 189 countries and geographic areas. It is a service, leadership, professional, and community service organization (often miscommunicated as a Social Service Club) for young adults aged 18 and over. In 2019, Rotaract went from being a program of Rotary International to being a membership type of Rotary International, elevating its status to resemble that of Rotary clubs. As of 1 July 2020, Rotaract clubs can exist on their own or be sponsored by Rotary and/or Rotaract clubs. This makes them true "partners in service" and key members of the Rotary family.A Rotaract club may, but is not required to, establish upper age limits if its members so desire and record it in the club's bylaws. To be a member. click the link below: https://t.me/solianaRac

As a Millennial, I struggle to understand the concept of participation trophies. I grew up in a culture where there were clear winners and losers - you either won or you went home empty-handed, ready to try again next time. This idea of everyone receiving a trophy just doesn't make sense to me. How will today's kids learn about competitiveness and the drive to be the best if we reward everyone, even those who didn't put in any effort or their efforts this time was not good enough? It seems to blur the lines between achievement and mediocrity. I am a member of a group consisting of football industry leaders, coaches, and club owners, and we frequently discuss championships, friendlies, and inter-club games. What puzzles me is the trend of coaches requesting participation trophies or certificates for every player, even those on losing teams, after each event. I find myself questioning this practice. While some argue that participants deserve recognition because they paid to be there, I wonder if this is truly justified. Should every player and club / Academy receive a trophy or certificate, regardless of their performance or effort? It's a debate that highlights the balance between acknowledging participation and upholding the value of competition and excellence. At what point do we draw the line? Why is Sporting Heritage so important? So often, sporting heritage is collected by people who have a passion for sport. It is collected and preserved because it is so significant to personal and local stories. Until relatively recently, the heritage sector has been unclear about where sport fits within both its exhibition spaces and collection policies, and sport has been too busy with what happens today to think about the past in any kind of formal way. With this exclusion then has come a lack of opportunity to expand audiences and remove previously hidden and ignored heritage from the side-lines. The heritage of sport tells the story of wider historical, political, social, and economic developments. Sport can be used to explore a vast number of contexts. To the development of women’s rights, scientific discovery, immigration, travel and exploration, wealth and development of places, and the expansion of visual and audio media. It can impact on a huge number of wider agendas – the use of sporting heritage in education has been proven to increase attainment and engagement for those disengaged with education. Preserving and celebrating sporting history is important. Sport and play are essential forms of human expression that, over the years, have made valuable contributions to the evolution of our cultures and heritage. Guinness World Record Holder Preet Chandi MBE rocked the The Women of the Year Awards Alumnae meeting last night in a conversation with Jane Owen that was packed with lessons about stepping into adventure. Here are the five that stuck with me. If you’re taking a path you’ve not yet travelled, or striking out into something new, you might find them inspiring too. 🐧 Four years before Preet set two World Records for solo unsupported ski journeys across Antarctica, she googled... ‘How to get to Antarctica'. She purposely sought out high-stakes adventure somewhere she knew nothing about. I LOVE this. No one is born an expert, but with an end in mind, learning, failing and forging forward, you can make new and big things happen, from absolute scratch. 👣 It’s OK some days not to feel motivated – acknowledge that - but then get up and do it anyway. 💪 It’s an oldie, but a goodie: focus on what you can control. If the territory is unfamiliar or the storm is swirling around you, taking care of the things you can influence can help you make positive progress. 👏 We all need our ‘base camp’ people. Every day, Preet used one phone call to her now husband as ‘base camp’. Not only was it a safety check in, he helped her get out of her head and keep going, with words of encouragement and support. 🌄 “There is beauty in pain” - when your leg’s being gnawed at by the cold, you have to REALLY want to see the beauty in that, but this thought resonated with the room in lots of ways. Struggle makes eventual personal victories that much sweeter, and usually sees you develop new strengths and skills along the way. Thanks Women of the Year for another amazing event, all the more special in this, WOTY’s 70th year. #WOTY

Portuguese National Team, reflects Portugal in its entirety. It tells us that this country belongs to the old, and only they can succeed. If they don't, we pretend they still might. When young people fail, they are punished and rarely given another chance. Antonio Silva was drawn alive when he failed, I want to see Pepe and Ronaldo crucified as well by the media and by Betclic and all the others, simply because when older individuals fail, it's no big deal; they get another opportunity the next day. Opportunities for young talent to thrive are few and far between. The older generation often refuses to acknowledge their age and the possibility that the younger generation might perform better. Small note about the subject: The starting 11 of the national team, along with those on the field, come from teams that have had some of the worst performances or rankings in recent years, while the top performers were warming up the bench. We continue to prioritize something other than performance, and it's showing. It is absolute madness the Portuguese mentality. #football #Ronaldo #Pepe #Betclic #LigaPortugal #governoportugues #fpf #antoniosilva
