It didn’t take much arm twisting to get Roco Senior Chief Instructor Troy Gardner to take TWO for the team and head to Hawaii twice to teach a pair of courses in the rainbow capital of the world. Great weather, a wonderful long-time client and awesome rescuers to work with!

🚤 A heaving line is a length of rope that needs to be kept handy, ready to throw to someone over the side. The line should have sufficient breaking strain to haul a person back to the boat.

Why do birds fly in a V formation?
As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following.
By flying a V formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.
Remember that when deciding if you want to scale

Lifeboats are crucial emergency vessels aboard ships, designed specifically to evacuate passengers and crew in case of a maritime crisis. These specialized boats are equipped with essential supplies, navigation tools, and safety gear to ensure survival until rescue arrives. They come in various types and sizes, from rigid inflatable boats to larger enclosed models capable of accommodating numerous people.
Their importance cannot be overstated, serving as a last line of defense in the event of accidents such as fires, flooding, or shipwrecks. Lifeboats act as a critical safety measure, providing a means of escape and ensuring individuals can leave a distressed vessel swiftly and safely. Regular drills and familiarisation with lifeboat procedures are essential to guaranteeing a swift and organised evacuation in times of crisis, emphasising their vital role in maritime safety protocols.
In this video, I've detailed the steps involved in launching a lifeboat.

You may have seen this footage of a reported great white shark swimming of the coast of Ireland.
It remains anecdotal evidence as the footage quality is short and poor so it can’t verify that it is or it isn’t a great white, and where exactly it was filmed.
The quality of the footage had led people to say it’s a hoax as well.
I’m obviously not an expert in sharks but there are some in Ireland that this potential sighting has excited and it might be legit.
Dr Nick Payne of Trinity College is collaborating with Shark Scientists from the US on a upcoming joint survey.
They will hopefully track great whites to see if they actually visit our waters and obtain evidence of it.
Sharks are very important in regulating the marine food web, although this importance has been overwhelmed by fear generated through the media.
What do you all think?
