My 2001 footage from my documentary @thebboyconnection of legendary @kwon.k138 teaching young bboys his style at @kinguprock dollar jam Brooklyn, New York 11/15/2001. Free screening’s coming soon in Berkeley and Oakland CA. Including where ever I get an invite to screen. I was always filming 16:9 widescreen with an anamorphic lens. That’s why this footage I filmed doesn’t look like other early 2000 videos. Shot on my old Sony PD-150 with an anamorphic 16:9 lens. Back then people thought i was weird because I was shooting digital video in 16:9 and I kept telling them I'm doing this not for the square TV I'm doing this for the big screen and film festivals. I ignored all my critics and so glad I did because during that time my ways of thinking knowing wide screen digital filmmaking was the future landed me many gigs with Sony Professional | US & Canada in 2003, 2004 doing demos, of my footage and answering question about professional digital cameras at NAB, DV Expo and the Sony Digital center at the 2005 Sundance film Festival. 2004 Sony sent me a new prototype Sony 3CDD HD camera which was their first pro HD camera. Only 6 went out to us creators who I would say we were the original open box video testers of electronics long before people started doing so on youtube. I actually posted the same footage they used to demo at the Sundance film festival on my youtube when youtube first launched. I really wish I knew that would be the thing to do on youtube and kept that going with Sony. I really didn't understand how doing business with large corporate companies at the time. Trial and error though out the years has made me so much better working with companies to this day. I just ordered something new that will arrive tomorrow for my next innovation video testing of an alternative of video tape capture devices. Something I can't find of anyone doing so this week will be an experiment of turning old VHS and DV tapes into 4k from firewire without worries of timecode break which has been a major issue digitizing old tapes. Hopefully it works and I'll post the results. Stay tuned for more of my never before seen clips posting soon during my re-digitizing process of old video tapes. Also any tips of software out there on how to get rid of the lines as seen in the details in this video when people are in motion. I have topaz video but that made it worse. Special thanks to Christopher Soltesz & Craig Yanagi who took me on at Sony Broadcast professionals. #mooncricketfilms #thebboyconnection #bboy #bboys #bgirl #dance #danxer #hiphop #breakin #breakdance #breakdancing #filmmaker #filmmaking #documentary #docuseries #hiphophistory #hiphop50th #sony

Exactly one year ago, my short animated film Loading: Memory Glitch premiered as part of the first Storytelling Fellowship program organized by 3Lateral and Epic Games. What happened since then? A couple of great things happened, in addition to the fact that I met a lot of great people, I was given the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences first as an alumni and very quickly as an official lecturer on cinematography topics at all Unreal and UEFN fellowship programs. I just hope that through the sessions and lectures, I contributed at least a little to the works of the participants of the fellowship programs being better, and I hope even more that each of them learned at least a few things from me (if nothing else, at least film shot:) What's not good is that I really wanted, and I still want, to continue developing the story and production of my short film, which was supposed to grow into a ten-minute short in the next phase, and later, who knows, probably a feature film. It's really challenging sometimes to fight alone as the head of an indie studio(84FRAMES), with all the daily business tasks and running in circles for new projects and clients, just to keep the studio moving forward and surviving among increasing competition, and at the same time to think and deal with something that could only be just a showcase project. So that's why I want to invite everyone who has an idea, expertise to contribute and of course good will to support and help the project with their resources, to get in touch (office@84frames.com) and let's try together to breathe new life into Loading: Memory Glitch sequel.
