The Preamble to the Constitution of The United States of America We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. All parts of the Constitution and all amendments are to be judged by how well or how poorly they meet the original goals of The Founders as specified in the Preamble. If you are an originalist or a strict constructionist, know that the original Founders were very strictly specific about what they wanted the Constitution to provide: - An increasingly perfect Union of states and citizens - Justice for all under the law, a nation in which no one is above the law - Harmony, peace, and security for all citizens - All things are to contribute to the general Welfare, not to private profit and power. The general Welfare is sacred, not property rights. - Blessed Liberty to all citizens and all within our borders In 2024 how are we doing in meeting our goals? Would the authors of The Preamble be proud of us now? If not, could it be because many of our "leaders" are willfully ignoring The Preamble?

Below are the opening lines of the US Constitution. These defining words are forgotten and intentionally neglected by legislators and unknown to most citizens. Laws are passed that move us away from the direction articulated by the Constitution and our educators are discouraged from teaching these words, the basics for forming a civil society and good citizenship. There is no room for legislation that limits the human rights of people, there should be no law that does not "promote the general welfare" or the "Blessings of Liberty." There are too many laws that move us from and not to "forming a more perfect union". We have politicians suggesting we ignore parts of the Constitution. This is a wakeup call to all of us. The Union only works when it works for every American. Learn these words and insist those we elect live and work by them. "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
