Some key takeaways from this article: - Employers play a role in addressing and stamping out sex trafficking: "[it] is often viewed narrowly as a law-enforcement problem. But it is a business issue, too, because it creates operational, regulatory, legal and reputational risks for companies in banking, telecommunications, technology, transportation, logistics, hospitality, health care and other industries." - With the first reporting deadline under the new "Modern Slavery Act" on the horizon, businesses should be thinking about how to "do more to combat another form of human trafficking: the sexual exploitation of women and children." https://lnkd.in/g9cnSw5H

Not Taken, the Movie, is in full development. “To-date, even wildly successful films like, ‘Taken’ and ‘Sound of Freedom’ haven’t addressed the real issues of human sex trafficking.” According to Terry Ulick, Executive Producer of “Not Taken,” a movie being developed by Wherever Movies LLC. “Presenting one side of trafficking, rescuing children who have been taken, is a concern. The truth is that the trafficking of children starting as young as five for sale as merchandise, used for sex, has surpassed illegal drug revenue and millions of children are taken each year. It is essential to feature how traffickers both operate — and how they are allowed to freely with little or no restraint from governments. The question why the U.S. can find a knock-off shipment of purses being transported yet not find children who are drugged, terrified and filling trucks and planes is one that must be asked. After watching how leading government officials and help from agencies responsible for stopping trafficking not be investigated or charged in the Goldstein case it is clear that traffickers operate freely in exchange for providing minors for sex to Presidents and billionaires. That’s the story Hollywood hasn’t told, but we will.” Terry Ulick has first-hand knowledge that drives the story. His mother’s parents were traffickers in the Ukraine. Her father, a ruthless trafficker, raped her when she was 12. Learning she was pregnant, her mother snuck her to the U.S. where Terry was born days after her reaching America. Eventually joined by her mother and two brothers, Terry grew up with people who had been both trafficked — and had been traffickers. He has a profound understanding of how his family was traumatized, and how his grandparents operated their illicit trade. He ran away from his family when 13 to start his company, so also knows what being a child on the streets or from a shattered family encounters. “I was not someone a predator messed with. I was fearless and was raised hearing all the ways they took children. I knew the only way to not be trafficked was to know how they operate, and do whatever it takes to stop them. All that experience is emdedded in the Not Taken movie story. The tagline stating the only way to stop trafficking is to stop traffickers is the most important message all people need to hear. Then, they must ask why our government is so concerned about pronouns and gas stoves but not the lives of millions of children. Why is our government not putting stopping traffickers as a number one priority? Not Taken is about that question. If you want water, you don’t turn off the faucet. It’s not hard to answer the question.” Ulick doesn’t stop there. He says the lead characters in the movie — a mother and daughter — are taken, escape, and given money go do what our government should do: Stop traffickers. “A beautiful mother and daughter, Glocks strapped to thigh holsters, with beyond John Wick action is what you’ll see.”

CN: CSA, CSAM, child abuse The release of the “Epstein Files” has really highlighted why mandatory media guidelines are absolutely essential when talking about child sex trafficking. Lets be really clear- Ghislaine Maxwell is a covicted sex trafficker. And Epstein was facing child sex trafficking charges. Its gross and exploitative how some media outlets are treating this as salacious gossip- likening these legal documents to Heidi Fleiss’s “Black Book” Using terms like “Lolita express”, “wild sex island” and “underage orgy” not only diminishes the seriousness of the accusations it softens the reality for the reader, by suggesting participants were equal and there was no power structure being exploited. How can that be? Its child sexual abuse. The size of this operation is mind blowing and so horrific it almost begs belief Language matters. How we think about these crimes and how we tackle the horror of them matters- we cant soften or excuse the inexcusable. #endchildsexualabuse #endchildabuse #endchildtrafficking

I didn't think when this began that it would be a good thing, and never saw more than a name on it anyways. What is concerning is with the number of sex buyer arrests, it means no one is really being convicted, and that's a problem. My assumption is that most of the men are being given a deferred agreement, which I can understand for the first arrest, but there is no way there aren't repeat arrests. I'm glad to see this go, because maybe now buyers will take adjudicated convictions knowing they're not going to end up on this database. #lawenforcement #humantrafficking #sextrafficking #publicprivatepartnerships

As the news of Sean "Diddy" Combs' arrest in New York City dominates headlines, a paradox unfolds for Hollywood's elite: those who stay silent seem to consent, while those who speak risk implication. Diddy faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transporting individuals for prostitution, with a minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of life if convicted. Some stars have addressed the situation, while others, with known close ties to Diddy, have remained conspicuously silent. Yet, paradoxically, their silence may be their most prudent choice. According to Doug Eldridge, founder of Achilles PR, "In high-profile cases like this, silence can prevent feeding a cycle of speculation and misinformation, which often stems from assumptions lacking solid evidence." The dilemma: remaining quiet could imply guilt by association, but speaking out could create unnecessary ties to the scandal. What is the right course of action in this delicate dance between silence and self-incrimination? #celebrities #influencemarketing #showbizvaluation #diddycombs #personalbranding
