Mentoring specialist eye surgeons to grow & scale their practices and achieve their "ideal exit" | 20+ years of experience | Scalable Business Advisor
Distraction is the Enemy of Traction - Stop Trying to Be Everything to Everyone One of the biggest mistakes I see private practice eye surgeons make? They try to launch multiple service lines at once. Cataract surgery, laser vision correction, glaucoma, dry eye—even bringing in other specialists—before they've documented how their business works. That adds complexity where there’s already plenty. More isn’t always better. Instead, focus on your core offer. Get clear on who your ideal customer is. Become the go-to expert for that one thing. You’ll gain traction faster and with less distraction. Simple Scales. Fancy Fails. #businessstrategy #focus #privatepractice #scaleyourbusiness #refractive
Awesome post!! This is somewhat analogous to one of my favourite TV shows “Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares” where Gordon Ramsay does an assessment on failing restaurants and often diagnoses the issue where an owner offers 100 different dishes on the menu. He forces them to ditch this strategy, clear the decks, and gets them to perfect just a handful of classic dishes to consistent perfection! It completely transforms the restauranters’ business!!
Rod I must accept that . I too started my other practice . And I must say it’s turning out to be difficult to manage . Then physicians / surgeons like me try to juggle . We as surgeons should build on one practice , very rightly said !
100% agree with this!
