THE AGE OF THE SCHADE GIANTS With the combined machine at the Zollverein colliery in Essen the world of SCHADE machines for stockyards became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The unique and tailor-made SCHADE technology conquered the world: from Europe to America, to Asia, to Africa, to Australia. But it was not only the unlimited world tour of the machines; in the years that followed, their size reached unimaginable dimensions and performance parameters: In 1978, the world's largest bridge scraper with a capacity of 1,150 tonnes per hour conquered the stockyard market. At almost the same time, a portal scraper in South Africa achieved record figures in terms of size and performance. Giants that continue to work decades after their creation and have lost none of their impressive machine power. Will SCHADE continue on the path of producing these giants? Or is the world tour of the machines the ultimate goal of the SCHADE engineering team? Find out more in our September issue. 🌟 Back from #Las #Vegas! 🌟 Recently we kicked off our latest REHAU New Ventures start-up investment in CoStore on #LinkedIn. Now happy to see the two Co-Founders Marcel Philipp Lang and Jannes Koepcke being back from Inside Self-Storage 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘀 𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘀! What is the most promising to us is the gap which still exists between the US and Europe. In Europe there are only 𝟲,𝟵𝟮𝟵 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (FEDESSA - Federation of European Self Storage Associations, 2023) registered whereas in the US we are facing more than 𝟱𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (Sparefoot, 2023). Additionally, there is a significant surge in the adoption of mobile storage facilities, like container storage units. This trend is driven by their capacity for rapid expansion across different sites, cost-effectiveness, adaptability, and reduced regulatory constraints concerning construction standards. So really promising outlook!

On a greenfield site in the Czech Republic, 1994 At the beginning of the 1990s, Klaus Thimm wanted to further orientate his company towards an international customer structure. Thimm's vision: to expand the packaging company into the Central and Eastern European markets. At the same time, Thimm recognised the economic upturn in the industrial nation of the Czech Republic, which he wanted to support with his packaging: "After all, everyone needs packaging for their products." After several trips and exchanges, it was clear that the next plant would be built in the Czech Republic. A 50,000 square metre area of land was acquired in Všetaty, a small town north of Prague. Klaus Thimm saw the opportunity to supply international customers at their sites in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic from here in the best possible way. And so the subsidiary THIMM Obaly (German: THIMM Verpackung) was founded. In April 1995, construction of the 5,000 square metre plant began "on a greenfield site". Production started in 1996 and the official inauguration took place in May 1996. Shortly afterwards, a corrugator is installed in the plant, which is one of the most modern in Europe at the time. The production area was tripled to 15,000 square metres and the number of employees almost doubled to around 100. In 1998, the Czech site passed the strict ISO 9001 standard, the first Czech plant in the packaging industry to do so. And the success story in the Czech Republic continues ... #75thimm #companyhistory #expansion #czechrepublic Pictures: 1: Planning drawing of the plant | 2: First construction progress in 1995 | 3 & 4: Inauguration ceremony | 5: Production | 6: Exterior view

LAGERBOX Wuppertal. A conversion project with 3 separate properties plus some residential, logistics, garages and plenty of further development for storage. The rezoning took longer as expected, but was compensated by income in place with current yields > 10% of logistics and resi. This is location #32 with some 10-12 further locations in the pipeline. #LAGERBOX #Selfstorage #Conversion #Wuppertal #GibDenDingenEinZuhause

When we say #MadeinDenmark, with Dripdrop we are talking about three things: 🌳Sustainability ⚒️Quality 🗺️Proximity Sustainability means that danish manufacturers are some of the most ambitious in the world, and their standards are just extremely high all the way around in terms of material, employment and supply chains. Quality for us means how reliable and durable our products are. With a business model like ours, the longer our stands and umbrellas can last, the better for everyone. Proximity - Near and dear. It shortens development time and decreases mistakes. We put a value in being close to our partners, in and of itself. Everyone is spending a large part of their workday in front of a screen writing emails. If we can have at least some partners that are nearby, we can always jump in the car and go iron any questions out or do further development together - in no time. Our manufacturers in Denmark include: Mtech Innovation - Hardware TRECO A/S - Umbrella stand body and paint Pakkeriet Hadsund - Assembly Mtech Innovation in Kjellerup. You would probably not know, but there is a lot of technology baked into a Dripdrop stand. The fact that we can do some development and our production of hardware nearby means quick iterations and a super tight quality loop. TRECO A/S in Hadsund and Aalestrup. Started some 25 years ago by three danish guys (looking at you Allan Prang) that had a vision for how to do better manufacturing in Denmark. They are a real powerhouse today and ensure our high quality standards are lived up to. Pakkeriet Hadsund - They employ people that have for one reason or another fallen out of the job market and are looking to get back into the groove. They can then handle the tasks that fit their skill set and current capacity and slowly build themselves up to taking on a fulltime job somewhere else. Huge shout out to Gry Larsen and the whole team at Pakkeriet.
