TOP 100 Women in Aerospace & Aviation Nominee to follow on LinkedIn 2025. I develop aviation/aerospace education ecosystems to promote K-Career STEM programs.
As promised, I said I'd post my latest article for Future Aviation/Aerospace Workforce News recounting a compelling conversation about how everyone is misinterpreting #DEI. The original intent of #diversity #equity and #inclusion, which dates back to the nineteen teens, has been distorted so those opposing it really don’t understand it. “What we mean with DEI is diversity of thought,” said Ivon Aheart who works in the Airlines for America General Counsel office but who was speaking as a private person. “A lot of the myths surrounding DEI is related to race, but it is not just about race. It is about including everyone whether they are facing ageism or whether they are women, the disabled or any other thing that makes them different. It doesn’t have a thing to do with race. It’s about including everyone and doing what is right in terms of benefits and working conditions that benefit the entire workforce.” We complain about the male dominance in our industry but what about those industry's dominated by women? The conversation within the webinar hosted by Dana Kirchmar Ellevate Executive Exchange was very revealing. The session also discussed the historical biases that have failed to level the playing field. https://lnkd.in/eETwcW5i Mita Samanta Jeffrey Shaw D'Angela Glenn Yolanda Villar Dave Helderop Greg Principato

Girl Power series, powered by 𝗨𝗗 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮! 💅 👠 🚛 There’s no better way to end off a successful year than with another empowering success story from our Girl Power Series! Meet Bianca Thompson – whose natural leadership and communication qualities have enabled her to serve in her role as Dealer Principal at @Produkta Trucks in Nelspruit with excellence since January 2024. 👏 In her one-on-one interview with FOCUS on Transport & Logistics, Bianca reflects on her journey with 𝗨𝗗 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮, how she received immense support from her male colleagues in an industry which featured very few females, and how she is utilising her position to encourage and empower other women in the trucking industry. “The lack of opportunities for women in the past is a sad reality, but it’s up to those of us who did get that opportunity to pass on knowledge to uplift women in the industry.” Bianca continues to emphasise that although sharing knowledge might not be part of the job description, it is crucial to the entire team's success. “Women work really well in strategic positions: they’ve brought a constructive culture that has filtered through the dealership and added value.” Spoken like a true leader! Transport is a man's world, you reckon?" As adaptive as this industry has been over the years—and as much as it needs to be—women’s growing presence is a vital part of transport’s evolution. We are proud to be patron partners in the League of Railway Women (LRW), an organization our very own Tatiana Voloshin is a member of. At Trilogical, we believe in the power of diversity and inclusion, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that pave the way for women in the rail industry. We are seeing unprecedented numbers of women taking on leadership roles within the US railroads, embracing innovative technologies in general and rolling stock telematics in particular. The next decade will require exceptional innovation, determination, and vision from the American railroads. More diverse perspectives and the motivation to bring outside-the-box solutions to the challenges the industry faces are enhanced by broadening the diversity of the talent sitting at the table, something that’s needed now more than ever. #womeninrail #railwayindustry #railinnovation

Why is women's participation in driving roles decreasing? 🚛 Research indicates this decline stems from multiple factors, including safety concerns, perceived gender bias, and inadequate support systems. But with an estimated shortage of 80,000 professional drivers that could reach 160,000 by 2030, bringing more women into the industry isn't just about diversity – it's an economic imperative.💲 The Women In Trucking Association commitment to this mission led them to partner with Drive My Way's Spark Change Lab to jumpstart this critical dialogue and move the industry from discussion to action.⭐️ ➡️ Want to learn more?
