A focus of his work addresses the wear on tools caused by aluminum oxide particles, significantly impacting the lifespan of stamping tools. Research Approaches and Findings: Utilizing specialized simulations and the "Load Scanner" testing method, Dr. Khetan was able to precisely analyze the interactions between tools and aluminum. His research indicates that the "Triton Star" coating, a specific type of DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating, reduces friction and prevents aluminum adhesion. This results in a significant extension of the tool's lifespan while simultaneously improving product quality and reducing maintenance requirements. Significance of the Results: The "Triton Star" coating proved superior to traditional steels in stress tests, enduring without significant wear or adhesion.
