I AM IMPRESSED - YOU CAUGHT MY ATTENTION Team Talent Trekkers from Nanyang Polytechnic was selected to be mentored by SFS for the finals for Supply Chain Challenge++ 2024. I gave them a problem statement, but not to solve a company specific challenge but an industry wide. In short, how to attract, retain and groom young talents (Gen Z). The young talents in SFS were roped in to support the team. I am impressed that in 48 days and still have to attend exams, schools and other matters they managed to come up with an outstanding solution. They collabrated and surveyed over 1000 students across 14 Institute of Higher Learning and managed to get 510 participants asking 5 basic questions. Basically is salary more important or career progression. They also introduced micro learning to shorten the learning curve of new employees and proven to me that it works. On the day of the finals they were flawless in their presentation including responding very well to the difficult questions from the judges. I will implement the solutions from Talent Trekkers across all SFS offices and partner networks. Thank you for for showing me a different perspective when employing Gen Z with the survey questions. With that, I will retire from participating in Supply Chain Challenge (Champions 2022 and 2023) instead I will continue to groom young talents across all industries to join the logistics industry and I won't be alone in this journey. Thank you Talent Trekkers and the Young Talents of SFS, you have showed me that you are willing to collabrate and work together to come up with a workable solution to solve an industry challenge and you are spot on! The future is bright! #SGLogistics #manpowercrunch #attractingtalents #groomingtalents #microlearning

Under Pressure - Supply Chain Challenge++ 2024 Mentoring teams to success is no easy feat, but SFS has done it not once, but twice! Nanyang Polytechnic's team in 2022 and Institute of Technical Education's team in 2023 both became champions in previous SCC++ competitions under SFS's mentorship. SFS's students are expected to perform deep research to come up with a problem statement while also mastering their presentation skills to sell their proposed solutions to the audience. It's a challenging journey, but SFS is there every step of the way. Now, the 2024 SCC++ theme is just around the corner and SFS is excited to participate once again. A big round of applause to the 5 mentor companies who volunteered to join this challenge, providing a great platform for participating students to experience the real deal. There's no better place than SCC++ 2024 to showcase their skills! Thanks to Singapore Logistics Association and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) for organising this event. As in every challenge, we learnt from the students as well, it is two-way. Win or Lose, we are all Champions who volunteered to mentor the students and for the students it is a life-long learning experience! There are only WINNERS! NO PRESSURE only FUN! #supplychaininnovation #learningjourney YCH Group Aeris Dynamics Call Lade Enterprises CWT Integrated Pte Ltd

The second Department of Transport Logistics and Supply Chains Skills Week in Ireland takes place from Monday the 26th of February There are many events organised throughout the Country and details can be found in the link in this post. The key aim of the Logistics Week is to promote careers and educational opportunities in the Irish logistics and supply chain sector. Skills shortage is stymieing business growth opportunities. Employers in the freight distribution and logistics sector need to consider expanding their focus on recruiting young people and learning how they can compete in very competitive environments for limited scarce resources. The Logistics Supply Chains Group chaired by the Department of Transport coordinates a collaborative approach from key stakeholders involved in the Irish Supply Chains including trade associations, Higher Education and training providers as well as key government departments that are striving to support employers to attract younger people and women into our industry. Over 113,000 people were directly employed in Transport and logistics jobs in 2022 across a variety of roles. This is more than agriculture for instance. An objective of the Logistics Supply Chain Skills week is to continue to raise awareness of our industry across all of society. This will ensure that we are developing more interest in careers and younger people are considering getting involved in the freight distribution sector earlier rather than falling into it at a later stage. #logisticsskillsweek FTA Ireland LAA - Logistics Associate Apprenticeship Declan Allen #transport #supplychain https://lnkd.in/ejKiEvM9

Dear network, This week I had the opportunity to participate to an International Experience at EPHEC University College of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. In brief, #EPHEC welcomed over sixty students from all over the world to compete in The Fresh Connection game. These past few days have been really enriching as I've been able to learn more about Supply Chain Management 📦. As previously said, I took part of The Fresh Connection which is an innovative web-based business simulation game that engages participants in operating a virtual company. We have been divided into teams of 5 to swiftly restore the juice manufacturing firm's performance, which has been declining. Each member represented a specific role, there were VP Purchasing, VP Operations, VP Sales, VP Supply Chain and CEO the latter being my position. Essentially, it took place over 6 rounds and the aim was to make improvements with each iteration, as we encountered diverse real-time dilemmas. I found it particularly difficult due to the multitude of parameters we needed to take into consideration. Given the interdependencies among departments, even the minor alteration could have repercussions across the entire #supplychain. However, through thorough discussion, we developed an effective strategy that drove us towards achieving a positive ROI. Initially, it stood at minus 4%, but after facing some challenges, we succeeded in attaining the third place out of the thirteen teams 🏆. Despite being in #Belgium for the week, I thoroughly enjoyed my time. I had the chance to meet people from #Austria to #Norway, and even #Spain and #Germany. While I didn't explore another country, I learned a lot about other cultures by socializing with the students. Being Belgian turned out to be an advantage as I could offer a tour of #Brussels and explore the city more deeply myself. The last night was the best, we went to the #Wolf and we were able to relieve the week's pressure. It was truly a memorable experience. What I learned from this #internationalweek is the importance of communication, and undoubtedly, #English played a significant role in this whole adventure ! Here's a picture my friends and I took while visiting the capital 🇧🇪 Mikael Eykerman

Yesterday, I was able to visit the Packaging Innovations event in Birmingham! As a degree apprentice at Kite Packaging, attending this event was an incredible opportunity to dive into the vast world of packaging and connect with industry professionals. One highlight of the day was the inspiring innovation talk by Ben Edmonds. His emphasis on the importance of younger voices in the packaging industry resonated deeply with me. It was eye-opening to realize that regardless of our role within our companies, we all possess the power to innovate and identify market opportunities. This was then reinforced by Peter Macqueen and Jo Stevenson as they discussed the pivotal role packaging plays in enhancing factors of production and subsequently boosting efficiency. Their assertion that packaging serves as a catalyst for improved productivity was really interesting to hear. One key takeaway from the discussion was the notion that investing in packaging education yields exponential returns. The degree course not only enriches us individuals but also empowers businesses to optimize their processes without incurring substantial costs. I had the privilege of making valuable connections that I know will greatly benefit my studies at Sheffield Hallam University. These connections will not only enhance my learning experience but also provide me with the tools and insights to make a tangible difference in the industry. I am excited to embark on this journey of growth and learning, and I am looking forward to starting my second block at Sheffield Hallam next week.🚀 #PackagingInnovations #IndustryConnections #LearningAndGrowing
