Today we're thrilled to share the results of our first system prototype as part of our project with NATEP and InnovateUK. What does it take to re-invent aerospace propulsion for the 21st century? Well it is not without its challenges, for the last 18 months the team have been hard at work designing and building a 1m scale technology demonstrator with a huge target of 1000N thrust. After a challenging process of design, refinement and a healthy dose of adversity we are pleased to state the claim we achieved a max thrust of 1204N at just over 1850 RPM - exceeding our target by 20%! With scope to improve system level efficiency by upwards of 27% and craft level efficiency of 32%+. The HaloDrive system is posed to be a game-changer for the future of aerospace propulsion. A monumental thanks go out to our consortium partners Motion Robotics, Sabe Fluid Dynamics and Ace Wiring without whom we would not be here today. Here's a first look at some of what we have been up to ahead of Farnborough International Airshow #FIA24 where you can find us for more information on the system. #FIA2024 #evtol #aerospace #electricpropulsion #networking #defence #international

The extra middle parts add a lot of weight that seems contrary to how the rim-driven design is meant. Is this for the electrical engine testing to minimise variables? I hope to see it without the middle part some day. :3 Also, how small in scale can this go, and how is the friction handled?
