We 🧡 the CCS Foundation! Since 2022, we've partnered with the Foundation to provide second-year SFCC Digital Filmmaking students a Rogue Heart scholarship + internship. You know we love our Spokane community, and this was one way we felt we could give back while helping to open doors for kindred spirits. 📹 More recently, we've been working with the CCS Foundation to help them update their image library, and have enjoyed meeting students in a multitude of the Colleges' numerous programs at many of their locations. It's been an honor and a joy to capture students pursuing their dreams through higher education. 🎓

…such a substantive conversation today with TWC President Kimberly Churches, aimed at amplifying the connection and collaboration between Miami Dade College (MDC) and The Washington Center (TWC). For over a decade, The Honors College at Miami Dade College students and other scholars, with the mentorship of our world class professors, have travelled to the Capitol to participate in the immersive Inside Washington convening of engaged learners, faculty, and public/private sector officials. In this abstract, I outline the key components of my internship project focused on enhancing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The project aimed to improve the accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness of existing IEPs by conducting a comprehensive review and gathering feedback from stakeholders. Through collaboration with educators, therapists, and parents, I proposed and implemented modifications to better meet the needs of students with special needs. This work not only provided me with hands-on experience in the field of special education but also contributed to advancing personalized education. The abstract encapsulates the project's approach, outcomes, and the impact on students and the educational community.

EMS Educators: the graph below is the progress of a student over the course of Capstone Internship with a single preceptor. The red line is the student self-rating which is completed prior to submitting the same eval to the preceptor for feedback (blue line). What do you think is the explanation for what we see happening here? In general, as the student grows (and better understands what the preceptor wants), the lines should converge. What are the differentials? Academic issue? Couple of bad calls? Personal issue? Personnel inter-personal issue? We can turn off any of the line items and replot the graph—which would you turn off to assess what might be happening?

Q: Describe your initial perspective of the career you are interning at. After being an intern there for a few weeks, how have your beliefs changed, and what are they currently? A: When I first started my internship doing math intervention at the elementary school I wondered how effective that classroom situation really was and if it would actually help the students catch up to where they were supposed to be. I didn’t really understand how it worked and how to best help the kids understand. Now that Ive been at the elementary school for awhile I’ve been able to see how effective intervention is. I’ve seen the kids we work with grow so much and watching them start to really understanding something is one of my big highlights. Giving the kids a space where they can catch up outside the pressure of a classroom that might make them feel like they’re constantly falling behind us super important and really beneficial.

As this UVA student notes, middle-class students are stuck between earning too much to qualify for grants and not earning enough to pay for college costs. https://buff.ly/4du7W5U Families can explore options to lower costs like earning credits in HS (AP, dual enrollment), community college pathways, co-ops & paid internships, private scholarships, and careful college selection.
