McDonald's India has 512 stores while Zudio has 552 Stores! 😱 People buy more Clothes than they eat Burgers and Fries! 🍔 🛍 A neat flywheel is driving this growth. Zudio's fast fashion is indeed fast – in FY23, they sold 🛍 👕 90 T-shirts every minute! 👖 20 pairs of jeans, 💄 17 lipsticks, and 19 fragrances every hour! ⏱ The model is simple: ✅ Focusing on their captive brand, and latest fashion, minimizing lead times, and shrinking the time from design to shelf. ✅ This strategy has resonated with Indian consumers, with Zudio stores averaging INR 17,000 sales/sqft compared to the industry standard of INR 10,000. 💰 The key to this success lies in the flywheel effect. 🔁 With a low payback period of just 1.5 years, Zudio has been expanding rapidly, adding 203 stores last year and totaling 552 stores in India – more than McDonald's outlets (512). 🤯 The parent company, Trent, has experienced a massive stock jump, increasing by 5 times in just 2 years since Zudio's launch. 📈 This growth has left me thrilled with the returns as Trent remains my largest direct holding. 💹 What do you think about this trend? Is the current PE ratio of 127 for Trent justified? Share your shopping experience at Zudio and your perspective in the comments below. 💬 (Data Source: Trent Annual Report) #business #india #consumer #growth

Fact check: I think the number for jeans, lipstick and fragrance quoted is per hour and not per minute. But still overall inspiring numbers. https://www.businesstoday.in/latest/corporate/story/zudio-sells-90-t-shirts-every-minute-in-fy24-tatas-bigger-than-westside-clothing-brand-makes-waves-430649-2024-05-23#google_vignette

Zudio is next Zara for Bharat. The team of Zudio have cracked the crux of our growing and changing fashion essentials. I am sure this is result of faster conversions quick responses and effective team work for all stakeholders of sourcing, buying, design , planning and Warehousing. What next? And how long will this hold is interesting. Soon the competitors will replicate the module and another fast fashion brands to emerge.

In my view, Zudio's expansion into tier-2 and tier-3 cities across India has introduced a new shopping experience to customers in these regions. Their transparent pricing policy, with everything priced below ₹999, resonates well with the Indian market and reaches a broad consumer base. While fast fashion raises environmental concerns, Zudio's success has attracted more players into this space, such as "Style Up." Overall, Zudio is poised for further growth, as its plans to open more stores will likely lead to increased revenue.

Zudio simple strategy - affordable price points has just made them a success. Also all their stores are stand alone spacious stores. You will not find Zudio in any mall. The clothes are neatly arranged making shopping a pleasurable experience. Lastly the clothes itself are very fashionable appealing to the youngsters who don't want to repeat their outfits. Not surprised with this statistics.

The comparison between McDonald's and Zudio seems a little bit unfair for several reasons. First you compare between two different markets, second McDonald is not traditional food, while Zudio sells all kinds clothes. You know most people don't wear traditional clothes. Finally a lot of people in India have not the luxury to take meals in McDonald. But clothes are very important, noone goes around without clothes, especially when the price of those clothes fit their purchasing power.

Kerala has 44 stores for a 3 cr population so one of the highest per capita stores so to speak. Interesting

apart from masala content i dont get the hook in comparing Zu with Mc ...anyway Zudio sells below average quality cloths .... may be that's the whole game... affordable cloths. while store experience is subjective to individual taste and time so can't comment.
