Night to Shine Special Needs Prom: Do you have 8 hours of volunteer time?! STRONGLY encourage everyone to sign up to volunteer for this amazing event, this is my 3rd year attending and it the most fun and incredible night, I promise you will leave feeling SO rewarded! Friday, February 9th, from 4:45pm-9:00pm, Bridges Community Church, Los Altos, CA. Please sign up and volunteer to be a BUDDY* (a companion for a special needs teen or young adult for the night) Literally all it entails is to accompany them that evening, dance, do karaoke, take fun pictures, help them enjoy a limo ride. It's a truly special event and they are currently still SHORT on 100 buddy volunteers! If they don't get enough, they will need to turn away individuals who are looking forward to this event- an event in which may be their only opportunity to be celebrated and honored for who they are. THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? 🎉 I am thrilled to share that I’ve been appointed to the cultural council for North Attleboro, a local chapter of the Massachusetts Cultural Council! (I’m talking “raise your right hand”, three-year term, official). 🙋♀️ This is: -Voluntary -Unpaid -Going to consume a portion of my already busy schedule So why am I thrilled? Because I’m passionate about community engagement and when asked why I applied for the position, my simple answer was, “We could do better”. 💪 As a marketing professional, I’m naturally inclined to observe interactions and identify areas of opportunity. And it’s really hard to keep good ideas to myself. 😏 Having a mindset of “if it doesn’t exist, make it happen” has given me tremendous leadership and growth opportunities, from establishing professional networking groups to getting involved with charity organizations. Usually, I’m “making it happen” for the first time with little to no experience, but I am confident I can make a difference.
