The Master teaches us the importance of investing in our professional development through the parable of the talents(Matthew 25:14–30). We are entrusted as professionals with abilities and skills that may be nurtured or neglected. This particular parable teaches us that we should invest our gifts rather than bury them. Through constant learning, we too can advance our skills, just like the servant in this parable who multiplied his talents. To advance in our careers, we can also take calculated risks. Let us aim to increase our impact and provide a return on investment for our organisations and careers in whatever we do. #professionals #talentdevelopment #investinyourself #careergoals

Currently reading Adam Grant's new book "Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things" and just like with his earlier "Think Again" I am hooked. While I am still absorbing the ideals the key theme is that #character and #learning are more relevant than innate talent and opportunity. A few concepts that resonated with me: One cannot always change opportunities that come(or lack thereof) from your background and unfortunately even in this day and age - your race, religious beliefs and nationality. What character building and learning does: - Allows you to respond better to opportunities that do come your way. - Identify those that you normally would have missed or misjudged to simply not knowing better or not knowing to analyze your decisions or conclusions] -And the best of all is it allows you to create your own Opportunities where there were none. There are people who are, were thought leaders in the world - who had specific opportunities and had the talent and even character to exploit them. And then there are people who through a combination of character development and learning along with a few kind people made their way. What matters in all of this is character and the will to both learn and change - to both "Think Again" and to discover "Hidden potential". #alwayslearning #adamgrant #hiddenpotential #thinkagain #characterbuilding
