President @ U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council & North American Blueberry Council | Growing profitable demand & Advocating for blueberry growers
This is a great sit down discussion with Amanda on how we are growing, listening and adapting to best serve a growing, diverse and ambitious group of stakeholders. Working together, united, we can accomplish way more than any individual company or growing region. Even the biggest companies… This was certainly a takeaway from our convention in Tucson. I love that U.S.H.B.C starts with, “US.” It is that “us,” approach that will help grow the category, drive profitable demand for our growers and ensure the value of blues remains high. With how much runway still lies ahead for blueberries (60% of today’s purchases, dollars, are made by 20% of blueberry buyers and we are under 49% of households 🤯), the focus and opportunity must remain on growing the (blueberry) pie, not just fighting for the slice. Meeting together as an industry is key to helping remain focused and realizing these many opportunities still ahead for our growers. Join us in Denver! https://lnkd.in/g3dzMPPP Go blueberries! 🫐👊🏼🫐
The Industry Feedback from the 2024 Blueberry Convention delivers unique insights into the evolving landscape of the blueberry sector. In this episode of "The Business of Blueberries," host Kasey Cronquist, president of the USHBC/NABC, is joined by Amanda Griffin, CMP, IOM, vice president of engagement and education at U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council and North American Blueberry Council. “The change is we are going to smush over the convention to the fall and essentially take away the summit, and have one large event in the fall called The Blueberry Convention. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the end of the season, gather everybody together, and that is where we will grow the trade show floor to have more expansive education offerings and more opportunities for folks to gather and to meet,” said Amanda Griffin vice president of engagement and education at USHBC and NABC. #GoBlueberries #InspiringPossibilities #TheBusinessofBlueberriesPodcast https://lnkd.in/gTskHY8D

Webinar happening at Noon ET today. Learn why it is so critical that Congress act now on something tangible that can help American businesses of all kinds and outdoor recreationists. #OutdoorRecreation is a uniquely American industry worthy of favorable business policies, just like any other leading sector, of the economy. It is time for our leaders to recognize the possibilities they have to support people, places and communities through common sense action.
If you're in the business of outdoor recreation, you know that U.S. trade policy in recent years has had uneven and often challenging impacts on our distinctly American industry. On September 17 at 12 PM EST, we'll hold a virtual briefing about the most impactful trade policy opportunities across all sectors of the $1.1 trillion outdoor recreation economy. To continue to thrive and support the millions of Americans who recreate outside each year, and the 5 million American jobs our industry creates, our panelists will discuss the trade landscape and important legislation like the retroactive extension of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP). Featuring: Jessica (Wahl) Turner, President, Outdoor Recreation Roundtable Marc Berejka, Divisional Vice President, Community Advocacy & Impact, REI Callie Hoyt, Vice President of Government Relations, National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Glenn Hughes, President, American Sportfishing Association Jennifer Naeger, Vice President & General Counsel, Trek Bicycle Corporation Samantha Rocci, Director of Federal Affairs, RV Industry Association Charles Cooper, Founder and Managing Partner, Brumidi Group Join us: https://lnkd.in/gduirSet

Today, participants in Acres: Cultivating Equity in Black Agriculture began applying for National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDCHQ). Please help me celebrate these newly applied MBE members Brandon Gerrins, Niki Gerrins, Chris Muse, Brian Guidry, Tesha B. Guidry, NCET, Tonya Cryer, Tamu Green of Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council. We are also celebrating Sam Cobb Farms. of Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council (WRMSDC), an affiliate of NMSDC. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the dynamic certification team. Constance (CJ) Jones, MBA and Alyssa Wesley for their leadership and assistance. This program is working to close opportunity and wealth gaps for Black Farmers. A huge part of the certification process, that we often don't think about, is the anxiety that comes with gathering/uploading the documentation and what I like to call the "I don't know" questions found in the application. What we do, to remedy this, is provide support. Support is an equitable practice! Equity isn't limited to dollars. Dollars are important; however, support in accessing and managing this NEW acquired dollars/position/audience is equity in action. Strategic utilization of time and support level playing fields and that my dear LinkedIn friends grounds equity work! #equity #nmsdc #cargill #unfi #walmart #blackfarmers Jetheda Hernandez, Brandi W., Natalie Chantal McGrady, Valencia Cooper, Lori Rodriques (she, her, hers), Kristine Creveling, MPH, RD, Marc Winston, and Monique Carswell

Thank you for stating what we see somehow “overlook” The California Endowment. Our collective thanks to #farmworkers who ensure we eat, regardless of the physically demanding daily work and oftentimes not accessing the food they grow. What a parallel to ponder (not to shame, but to increase our collective curiosity and growth): traveling far distances from home with the hope of getting a smartphone camera’s distance from a musical performance; spending some of the time in dust, dirt, mud, and elements; paying large sums of money to witness incredible talent and creativity and being “seen” via social media. Versus Traveling far distances from home with the hope of a better paying job that can support themselves and their families; spending all of their time in the dust, dirt, mud, and elements; receiving low wages and being overlooked and taken for granted for feeding everyone who attends such festivals - and not being “seen” at all. Gratitude and curiosity helps us look at root causes to systemic issues. There are always solutions. P.S. COCHELLA PRODUCTIONS check out Lucidity Festivals local procurement system
As thousands of people head to the Coachella Valley, we uplift and celebrate the farmworkers, day laborers, and immigrants that keep California going. Coachella is more than just the festival.
