🍀 Happy St. Patrick's Day, LinkedIn family! 🍀 As we don our green attire and celebrate all things Irish today, I want to highlight an incredibly insightful article I recently came across. It delves deep into the economic impact of St. Patrick's Day and how it's not just all about leprechauns and luck, but also about the power of cultural celebrations to boost economies and businesses worldwide. Did you know that St. Patrick's Day brings in a significant surge in retail and hospitality sales, with millions of dollars being poured into local businesses? Pubs and restaurants see a spike in customers, with traditional Irish food and beverages taking center stage, while the demand for festive attire creates a wave of seasonal commerce. It is amazing to see how a day steeped in tradition has evolved over the years to become a global economic stimulant. It's also a day that reminds us of the importance of cultural diversity and the positive impact it can have on business growth and community development. The article beautifully emphasizes how embracing cultural celebrations can lead to economic progress and cross-cultural understanding. As we raise our glasses in toast to St. Patrick, let's also toast to the immense opportunities such festivals offer for entrepreneurship, marketing, and global connections. Here's to the spirit of Ireland, which shows us that the blending of culture and commerce can yield a pot of gold for businesses and economies alike! Sláinte! (That's cheers in Irish 😉) 🌈 #StPatricksDay #EconomicImpact #CulturalDiversityInBusiness #Entrepreneurship #GlobalEconomy #CelebratingCulture 🌈 https://ayr.app/l/9Afs

Trump vs Biden: The Food Fight! Who's Your Presidential Pick? 🇺🇸 Did you know that if the US presidential elections were held today, the restaurant industry would be sizzling with votes for Trump? That's right, a recent straw poll at the National Restaurant Association's Public Affairs Conference saw Trump garnishing nearly double the votes Biden had on his plate. A whopping 65% of nearly 600 attendees preferred Trump! 🍽️ Could you imagine the surprise on the faces of Dana Perino and Harold Ford, Jr, co-hosts of Fox's popular program “The Five”, as they shared the stage? And it was not just them. The fact that Trump had such a lead left many wide-eyed. 👀 Let's remember, the 2024 presidential race is still simmering. Trump and Biden currently reign as the prime choices in the Republican and Democratic parties, but the race is far from final. The real taste test will be the parties’ conventions this summer. ☀️ With late summer school shopping potentially draining parent's pockets and the uncertainty of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., as an independent, the dinner table could see a shift in the presidential plate. In the first round, Trump prevailed with a 44% vote against Biden's 31%. Should Kennedy drop out, his following is more likely to shift towards Trump, the poll results suggest. Compared to 2023's conference where participants predicted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would be the Republican Party's presidential candidate in 2024, the scene has certainly changed. So, the burning question is: If the restaurant industry had to pick a president today, would your choice be extra Trump or more Biden? #restaurants #franchise #franchising

The Whiskey Rebellion was a violent uprising that occurred in western Pennsylvania in 1794, in opposition to an excise tax on liquor. After anti-tax protestors assaulted federal tax collectors and threatened to march on Pittsburgh, President George Washington (served 1789-1797) raised a federalized militia that swiftly suppressed the insurrection. The incident strengthened the authority of the United States federal government. Alexander Hamilton had proposed an excise on distilled spirits to fund his ambitious economic program, which was enacted by Congress in 1791. This so-called 'Whiskey Act' proved unpopular, particularly among the small farmers living on the western frontiers of the United States. Liquor was an important commodity in the West, where many farmers operated small stills and used liquor as an informal currency; the new excise tax was something that many of them could not afford. Protests broke out in 1792 and 1793, with much of the rhetoric accusing Hamilton and his nationalist Federalist Party of being aristocrats who sought to use the tax to subjugate the small western farmers and deprive them of their liberties. The Federalists, for their part, accused the protestors of fomenting anarchy and urged President Washington to take decisive action. The anti-tax protests escalated in the summer of 1794 when protestors attacked the home of a federal tax collector before demonstrating on Braddock's Field outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they talked of attacking the federal garrison in the city. Washington finally yielded to his Federalist advisors and called up a federalized militia to suppress the rebellion. Led by Hamilton and Virginia governor 'Light-Horse' Henry Lee III, the 12,950-man militia army marched through western Pennsylvania in October 1794, with all opposition melting before it. This show of military force ended the Whiskey Rebellion and proved that under the new Constitution, the federal government was strong enough to enforce adherence to its laws. However, the government's aggressive response unnerved many Anti-Federalists, who feared the growing authority of the national government. This controversy contributed to the rise of the Democratic-Republican Party in opposition to the Federalists, ushering in the birth of political partisanship in the United States. #WhiskeyRebellion #AlexanderHamilton #FederalistParty #History #WHE

The single biggest driver of local property taxes is, almost without exception, the financial needs of the local school district. In 2018, NJ enacted a law affecting how state aid to school districts was allocated. Districts that lost funding are feeling the pinch, and the only place they have to turn is the property taxpayer. Why is this news today? Northjersey.com recently reported on a bill that introduced in the state senate that would eliminate the 2% cap on increases in the property tax levy for districts negatively impacted by the 2018 law. If passed, voters would no longer have the opportunity to vote down an increase over the limit. For property owners already choking on the highest property taxes in the nation, it's an unwelcome surprise to hear that taxpayers in affected districts may face even bigger tax hikes in the years to come. https://lnkd.in/eXgHMTZD
