Week 14 was marked by significant achievements! #GenesisByAnRae ✅️Achievements - Top Floor Roof Decking and Septic & Retaining Wall Foundations We completed the decking for the top floor roof, providing a solid platform for future construction phases. This milestone was swiftly followed by steelwork and casting. In parallel, our team embarked on essential groundwork, excavating the land for our septic and retaining wall. Once excavations were complete, we wasted no time in steelwork and formwork preparations for both the septic foundation and retaining wall. Finally, both structures were successfully casted, laying the groundwork for essential infrastructure elements. With each step, we are one step closer to realising our project's vision! Studies have shown that timber frame projects can be cheaper AND faster than masonry alternatives. Qualities such as being watertight faster, and the use of offsite construction mean timber frame buildings are often completed faster than masonry construction. This can contribute to reduced prelims and quicker return on capital employed. In this episode I take a deep a dive into why I chose to use Timber Frame Construction instead of a traditional masonry construction. I travelled to wales to visit the Timber Frame manufacturer and spent the day observing the intracies of how my chosen closed panel walls were built. Let me tell you now, if you are a construction geek like me, this is a very fun day out! Target Timber Systems are based in Wales but deliver and install across the UK. They hold the highest acolde which is known as gold membership with the STA (Structural Timber Association) Here's a link to their website for anyone who is considering Timber Frame for their next self build project or development project. This was the first time I used Timber Frame and so it wasn't a decison I came to quickly. After extensive research I decided that the many advantages outweighed the lesser disadvantages. Here is a brief summary of the main advantages.
