Last week, the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder asked community members to reflect on how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s work influences their lives today. Felicia Perry, Rondo CLT's Economic Development Manager, shared, "through wellness practices like yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness, I help communities build resilience and prioritize self-care as a revolutionary act. These practices echo Dr. King’s belief in cultivating inner peace and emotional discipline as part of nonviolent resistance." We are grateful to have Felicia Perry on our team because of her community-centered approach to her work that is so deeply rooted in building connection and equity. As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today, I'm reflecting on both his dream and our journey. His unwavering commitment to justice and equality opened doors that many of us now walk through daily in our professional lives. While we've made strides, his work reminds us that progress requires both courage and perseverance. Something Dr. King believed we should ‘never lose infinite hope’. Guard your peace fiercely. In this era of constant connectivity and digital anxiety, remember that your mental and physical wellbeing are non-negotiable. Some practical wisdom I've learned: - Fear sells, but you don't have to buy it - Your peace of mind is more valuable than any engagement metric - Creating boundaries isn't just self-care—it's self-preservation To every professional feeling the weight of these times: Take care of yourself. Set those boundaries. Build your community. The dreams we're working toward require us to be whole, healthy, and present. Stay safe, stay focused, and as Dr. King taught us - keep moving forward. #MLKDay #MentalHealth #ProfessionalGrowth #CommunityFirst

As we observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the US, we reflect on the incredible legacy of a man who championed equality, justice, and the fundamental belief that every individual deserves dignity and respect. Dr. King's vision challenged us to imagine a world where people come together to build a better future, lifting one another even in the face of immense challenges. At Intrado, this message deeply resonates with the work we do every day. As a provider of critical 911 services, we are committed to helping communities in their most vulnerable moments. Our role is to ensure that life-saving information gets to the right people at the right time because every life matters. Dr. King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" In our work, that question isn't just philosophical; it's at the heart of everything we do. By enabling first responders to act with speed and clarity, by connecting people to help in their greatest times of need, and by continuously innovating to make our services more effective, we are answering that question with action. So, let's honor Dr. King not just through reflection, but by recommitting ourselves to serving our communities and providing hope and aspirations for others. -Intrado CEO, Matt Carter #MLKDay #Equality #Intrado #IntradoLifeSafety #WorkWorthDoing #AlwaysThereInAnEmergency

I admired Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as he was a principled man with great principles. The few that come to mind that are especially relevant at this time are: 1. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. 2. We must either learn to live together as brothers or we are all going to perish together as fools. 3. An Individual has not started living fully until they can rise above the narrow confines of individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of humanity. 4. Every person must decide at some point whether they will walk in light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness 5. The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. 6. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.

🌟 Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day 🌟 As we reflect on the profound words of Dr. King, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter,” I am reminded of the importance of advocacy in our daily lives. Advocacy is about amplifying those voices that are too often overlooked and working tirelessly to create a more just society for all. It encompasses our commitment to combatting racial and other inequalities, as well as promoting diversity and inclusion in every aspect of society. Working in a mental health space, I witness firsthand how silence can impact those who struggle with severe mental health challenges. Many individuals from marginalized communities face unique challenges that can exacerbate their mental health struggles. In addition to the stigma associated with mental health issues, they often contend with systemic barriers that silence their voices and limit their access to necessary resources and support. It is our responsibility to be their voice and to advocate for a world where everyone feels empowered to share their experiences and needs. Let’s commit to doing the right thing, standing up for those who may not have the ability to advocate for themselves. Together, we can break down stigmas and create an environment that fosters understanding, compassion, and support. On this day, let us honor Dr. King's legacy by continuing to fight for what matters and ensuring that every voice is heard. #MLKDay #MentalHealthAdvocacy #SpeakUp #Empowerment #MyCompany

Last week, we celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Walmart and heard from NWA youth about the lasting impact of Dr. King’s message. Their words reminded us of the power of creating spaces where everyone feels truly welcomed and valued—places where hope is nurtured in community. Dr. King once said, “I’m convinced that men hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don’t know each other. They don’t know each other because they cannot communicate. They cannot communicate because they are separated.” This quote speaks to the power of proximity—the ability to truly connect with one another in everyday moments. Whether it’s a conversation with a colleague, an act of kindness for a stranger, or showing empathy in a tough situation, the small moments add up. They help us bridge divides, build understanding, and create places where differences are celebrated rather than feared. The challenge is clear—it’s for all of us to step closer to one another, to engage in everyday acts of community and connection. Here’s to creating those moments, building bridges, and fostering connection in the spaces we touch every day. #MLKDay
