We continue to do the work. Consumer choice is what drives the local economy. Local businesses are closing because folks are choosing not to shop/dine local. Brands that we sell are recording record growth and profits. Trust me people in Sioux Falls are purchasing what we have to sell, they are choosing box stores, online marketplaces, chain restaurants, and direct to consumer options. More local establishments will close unless we build a local first mindset. https://lnkd.in/gyzyNxbW

Retailers listen up! If you want to make more sales inside of your store then please please.... STOP taking yourself to seriously 👀 Let's look at the reasons WHY people go shopping...WHY people might walk into your store 1. They just got paid and want to blast abit of cash 'payday treats' is a real thing! 2. They are looking for something specific. A neon bikini, a repeat purchase of their fave perfume, a new schoolbag for the kid(s)...yes, I am guilty of at least 2 of these 😉 3. They're killing time waiting to meet a friend/wandering around on lunch break 4. They saw something online and want to see if you have / want to try it on 5. They are buying a gift (also see point 2) ...really, that's about it Nowhere in that list did I write "comparing the fibres of dresses at 4 brands to check for the original source and manufacturing process to then determine the air miles, possible cost per wear and deciding if the piece is being sold by a company with outstanding credentials, who pay their team well and donate to multiple charities" Not likely The vast majority of people want a few things 👇 1. To be seen...so say hello at the very least 2. To be helped...so start a conversation 3. To feel valued...so thank them for visiting and if you can have some laughter and smiles along the way, well then you may have secured a customer for life THAT is the power of a smile THAT is the ROI of a great store vibe Not everything can be measured Not everything should be measured When did retail get so serious?! Lighten up, the load will lift and I guarantee - you'll enjoy it a whole lot more! #retailing #customerexperience #leadership #mindset
