An energising start for day 2 of meetings with members based in London & the South East. This morning I joined the London Hub’s University Breakfast Meeting, with built environment academics, some of our Tomorrows’ Leaders and other members from the region. It was excellently chaired by Anjali Pindoria, who outlined activities to deliver site visits and other quality learning opportunities for built environment students. We also heard from Antonia Lanyiova Bsc (Hons) Open ( Open), CIOB’s Qualifications Liaison Manager, who gave a great presentation on CIOB’s strategic engagement model, which supports development of our relationships with built environment academics and institutions running construction-related courses. I was delighted to attend, as this meeting and the activities discussed help to strengthen the important links between academia and industry. This afternoon I was privileged to be invited by Rooff back to Skinners’ Hall and see progress on the refurbishment of this Grade I listed livery hall. It was lovely to see Steve Drury, MBA, FCIOB again and to meet Callum Collis and have a guided tour around this extraordinary building. My last visit, in 2022, introduced me to some of the complexities and challenges of the project. It was fascinating to see how so many of them have been overcome and, at last, to see some of the #heritage aspects of the work being unveiled – I love the details, the limestone cantilevered staircase, the bespoke fine sand lime plaster, the use of every type of brick bond and pennyrolling for the mortar. I applaud the Roof team who’ve worked on Skinners’ Hall for their client-focussed approach and their emphasis on delivering a high-quality project for this unique building. I hope to visit again next year to see it once it’s complete – it will be spectacular. Thanks again to everyone who came along this morning and to the Rooff team this afternoon and to all the support from London Hub members – always great to get insights from members, academics and industry practitioners. #BuiltEnvironment #construction #LoveConstruction #heritage #conservation #ConstructionManagement

Was a real privilege to see some of the restoration work being undertaken at Skinners’ Hall, the attention to detail once fully unveiled will be breathtaking, please do invite me back for the unveiling….

Regret to miss the event Antonia Lanyiova Bsc (Hons) Open ( Open).. would surely try to attend the next 👍

It was a pleasure to host a site visit again for Caroline at Skinners' Hall and the London Hub. Caroline was shown around by our assistant site manager Callum Collis, resident tour guide and emerging heritage expert!
