🔗 If you’re as inspired as I am after reading this post, learn more about Colombia‘s 🇨🇴 Serena Del Mar in The Economist. 👇 Link in the comments section of this post below. 🌿 Serena Del Mar: A Bold Vision for Inclusive, Sustainable Urban Living 🌿 It’s not every day that we come across a project as ambitious, innovative, and forward-thinking as Serena del Mar. Located just 15 minutes from Cartagena, this new project is much more than a collection of buildings—it’s a blueprint for the future of urban development. Cartagena itself is the ultimate incarnation of modern tourism, with its blend of authenticity, Caribbean coasts, history, diverse music, dances, rhythms, architecture, food, and rich natural surroundings. Serena del Mar embraces and amplifies this uniqueness while setting a global standard for sustainable and inclusive urban planning. Among its highlights is a university building designed by Brandon Haw, featuring vertical fins inspired by the shutters of colonial houses and a central pool of water reminiscent of the fountains and reflecting pools of old Spanish colonial courtyards, which together work to cool the building naturally. Serena del Mar will also feature one of Colombia’s premier golf courses, designed by Robert Trent Jones II. This extraordinary course, currently under construction, leverages the project’s proximity to the Caribbean Sea and its breathtaking natural surroundings to offer a world-class golfing experience that harmonizes with the environment. The project hosts one of the region’s most advanced hospitals, Hospital Serena del Mar, designed by Moshe Safdie, equipped with state-of-the-art GE medical equipment and developed to meet Johns Hopkins Medicine International standards. Recognized as one of the best maternity hospitals in Colombia, it provides world-class care and cutting-edge facilities for all. Additionally, Serena del Mar boasts four kilometers of beaches, granted in concession by the state for the exclusive use of the project, ensuring a private and pristine coastal experience. Its modern transportation terminalconnects major cities along the coast and throughout Colombia, making Serena del Mar a hub of accessibility and regional integration. This project is a shining example of how urban planning can balance sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation. With its mix of affordable and luxury housing, vast green spaces preserving mangroves and estuaries, and a design deeply rooted in harmony with nature, Serena del Mar redefines what it means to build for the future. It’s not just a project; it’s a global benchmark, blending history, nature, and modernity while prioritizing community and ecological preservation.
