There is no “perfect driver.” Beating red lights, braking hard, taking sharp turns, or simply speeding are things that even the most careful motorists may do once or twice. However, if you and your passengers knew you weren’t the only ones who were aware of every detail about your drive, long or short, how would you feel? In recent news, concerns over car data breaches have been blowing up, as insurance companies are using rider data to increase their costs. The problem grows when a large majority of drivers claim that they never consented to such a data collection, and many feel it is an invasion of privacy. In this blog, we give an overview on how your car may be taking your information, and what some drivers have to say about it. https://lnkd.in/e-d7z7SC

THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING!!!!!!! Omg I had to post this because most days I wonder where the heck people got their drivers licenses. I absolutely know that on my rush to the airport today there will be an idiot in the left lane on the phone driving 60. Do the world some good. Ok not Europe cause they pass on the right but share this and maybe just maybe we will clear up the left lane someday. Likelihood…. Slim. The Left Lane Is for Passing The restrictions and penalties for left-lane driving vary among the 50 states, but almost every state limits driving in the left lane to passing, merging or exiting. Fines for violations range from $50 to $500. Many states follow the Uniform Vehicle Code, which requires drivers to keep right if they are going slower than the normal speed of traffic. Drivers in all states are permitted to use the left lane for passing when there is more than one car traveling in the same direction. Most states, though, don’t allow left lane access for slow moving vehicles that give no indication of passing or turning. If you’re interested, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has compiled a list of “keep right” laws in each state.

Stay Aware for Everyone (SAFE) Act The third bill – the Stay Aware for Everyone (SAFE) Act – will tackle the threat of distracted driving, a problem that is only increasing with the proliferation of “driver assistance” technologies that can encourage complacency if misused on the road. The SAFE Act will specifically require the DOT to study how driver-monitoring systems can prevent driver distraction, driver disengagement, automation complacency, and the foreseeable misuse of advanced driver-assist systems. The legislation also requires a rulemaking to mandate the installation of driver-monitoring systems based on the results of this study, which shall incorporate appropriate privacy and data security safeguards. #seeingmachines A copy of the SAFE Act can be found HERE. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is also a cosponsor of this legislation. https://lnkd.in/eF9SS5qB

Helping people receive the benefits they deserve, by the people they need, from a company they can trust
With all of the talk about auto theft and reforms needed, here's one I don't see anyone proposing: Introduce legislation that makes it ILLEGAL for car manufacturers to sell cars with remote key fobs and starters. All new cars must have turn-key ignitions. Would this not immediately make an impact on car thefts in the way they happen today? What have we got to lose? A bit of convenience?

For many of us, driving is a daily part of our normal lives. However, how many of us routinely consider the risks on the road? Well, according to the Head of Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention at National Highways, the top five causes of road traffic incidents are: 1. Impairment, induced by illegal or prescribed drugs, over-the-counter medication, or alcohol 2. Distraction 3. Fatigue 4. Medical conditions 5. Attitude And when it comes to cause five, did you know that vehicle tracking can help fleet drivers? Through comprehensive reporting, fleet managers can obtain driver scores for each individual that take speed, acceleration and braking into consideration. Using this information, they can then take steps to improve driver behaviours through continued training, rewards, and recognition. If you’d like to talk to us today about vehicle tracking call us on 01582 383929, email us at hello@wftelematics.com or send us a DM. #fleet #fleetmanagement #fleetvehicles #fleettracking #vehicletracking #vehicletracker #telematics #driverbehaviour #safedriving

Officer overseeing Marketing, Media, and Publishers @Arity | Driving B2B Growth | Using Data & Analytics to Transform the Future of Transportation | Mom of two outstanding humans
California might soon lead the way with groundbreaking legislation aimed at curbing speeding. This bill proposes that new vehicles from the 2030 model year must include a warning system that alerts drivers when they exceed the speed limit by more than 10 mph ⚠️ According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, over 60% of U.S. adult drivers said they would be OK with an audible and visual warning when exceeding the speed limit. This measure, supported by major safety organizations, could significantly impact road safety – so, I’m definitely a part of that 60%. To me, this is not much different than Seat Belts alerts. They may be annoying, but the data is clear on how they help us make for safer roads. How about you? How do you feel about this being required in new vehicles?
